Went to this hotel with a friend and was very pleased with it. The staff speak very good English .Good food and the waiters are all very friendly and helpful at the bar and the dinning room . We got clean towels every day and...More
Firstly if you’ve a problem with heights this may cause problems as if you’d like to walk into town from the hotel you must go down along a very narrow path that is extremely high with a steep fall, so you have to get the...More
I loved this place. Our large room had balcony with views of the sea and mountains. The pool area - all of outside areas - were beautiful; water was cold, though (October). Staff very helpful in booking tours, giving directions, etc. The food was good...More
Me and my boyfriend had a lovely stay in Sorrento through Topflight in August. We choose the Hotel Metropole as it was within our price range and still within walking distance of the city centre. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. All in...More

Hi, if you have booked a superior room as we did, I hope you get Room 300, a large room with great views and it would appear to be the only room with a terrace which overlooks the pool and lovely terraces to the front of the hotel, the Bay of Naples and Mt Vesuvius , all other rooms appear to have rather smaller balconies but many still have good views. The mini bar has a selection of soft drinks and alcoholic drinks, and there are crisps, snacks and biscuits in the room, all of which are chargeable items. The hotel bar is open long hours too, with hot and cold drinks on offer, snacks and ice lollies and has comfortable indoor seating and pretty outdoor seating.
We visited Positano and Amalfi by boat, we booked the sea taxi round trip ticket at the harbour. The trip was great with commentary on board and a slow cruise around one side of Capri. We had a good amount of time in Positano before being taken to Amalfi again with plenty of time to shop, explore and eat and drink or just to relax before catching the taxi boat back to Sorrento. Great value for money. You can also book similar trips direct with the TUI rep at the hotel.
We went to Pompeii, which we did by purchasing a train ticket at the station, the train takes you right to the entrance of Pompeii. We chose not to do the guided tour in Pompeii, so just purchased our train tickets and basic entrance tickets for Pompeii, saving money for other organised excursions.
As we booked the holiday through Thomson (TUI), the Rep was at the hotel daily for advice and booking any trips. I would recommend the free guided walk around Sorrento on your first day by the TUI rep to show you the lovely things on offer and to experience some free samples of food and drink along the way.
One organised trip we did and would recommend is the 4x4 trip up Mt Vesuvius with dinner and wine tasting - a great day out, and booked with the TUI rep on one of his daily visits to the hotel.
Enjoy yourselves, it's a beautiful place.
