Hotel Michelangelo garners compliments for its immaculate rooms and facilities, with guests enjoying the fusion of traditional charm and modern amenities. The ambient atmosphere is enhanced by live music and a rooftop bar offering picturesque views. While the room rates are found to be fair, particularly for the dining options, some visitors believe the room quality could be improved.

Detailed Reviews
We booked 4 nights in October, we booked direct via the hotels website but had problems in getting the pre authorisation done. Hotel were very easy going and assured us that the reservation had been made and that they were happy to hold without a pre payment.
We asked for a pool facing high floor.
We arrived later than expected due to late arrival of flight to Naples, and a rather packed train from Naples to Sorrento. Arrived at 8:30 on Sunday night got of the train and it is a 300m walk to the hotel.
The hotel front entrance is very impressive and we were greeted at reception by a very polite receptionist who had also been the person we corresponded with. We were given a 6th Floor pool view room.
Hotel and room very clean, with a good view over pool and surrounding area. Although it is a short walk to the main square at night the room is very quiet even with windows open.
The hotel has a roof bar with Jacuzzi and an upper sun deck with plunge pool as well as a swimming pool.
Staff are all wonderful and polite and happy to be asked questions from restaurants to travel.
Breakfast was good with a wide choice from cereals to continental to cooked. Coffee can be ordered from the staff or from the machines, both are very good. They even had Prosseco to try.
If the weather is bad they have a lounge area with sofas and chairs.
Would we go back, yes we would its location is great, the atmosphere is wonderful and very good value for money.

We stayed here for 7 nights as a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 teens. We had a double room and triple room both overlooking the pool. The rooms were very clean, the double room was on the smaller side but had everything we needed with great air conditioning.
We opted for half board and were pleased with good breakfast options which was buffet style, and a 3 course dinner where there were 5 options to choose from for each course. Food was really nice, only slight draw back was dinner felt a little rushed as the food came out really, really fast. Waiting staff were so friendly, we were looked after so well by Francesco and his team.
Pools were all great, could always get somewhere to sit at any pool as people didn't leave towels on sunbeds all day which was a really refreshing change.
Hotel was really centrally located, in easy walking distance of the town. We could hear the trains now and then but it didn't detract from our holiday at all. Despite all this, it felt very peaceful.
All in all a fab hotel in a great location.

The breakfast was superb, a lot to choose from and so delicious. We had lunches in the sky bar and they were lovely too and reasonably priced. The staff were all really lovely and went out of their way to accommodate us. Aldor and all the staff at the sky bar were brilliant and gave me ice packs for my foot which I had injured shortly before I went away.
Francesco at breakfast was so kind, he went out of his way for me and made me stay at the table while he went for my breakfast on 2 mornings when my foot was really bad, and kept checking I was ok and I had enough food and drink.. the other hotel staff and reception were all lovely too.
We will be booking the Michaelangelo again really soon, we enjoyed it so much and we fell in love with Sorrento!
On our chill days we opted for the roof top as the views were fantastic, it was so relaxing.
The hotel is in a great location, right next to the train station, we arrived by train after staying in Naples for the night and returned directly to the Airport on the shuttle bus which only cost 10 euros. Only a 5 minute walk up to Piazza Tasso, and close to the beaches and ferry port too from where we caught the ferry to Positano and Amalfi.
Thank you to everyone at The Michelangelo for making our stay so perfect.

Great hotel, came here for a 50th birthday. Very well situated with a 5 minute walk from the train and bus station. Staff are very polite and helpful. It’s a 5 to 10 minute walk to the main square full of restaurants, cafes and bars. It’s about 20 minute walk to the harbour. Look out for the lift that takes you up and down to the harbour from inside the cliff for about 40 cents, if you don’t fancy walking up and down the steps and path. So great hotel, however, 2 things prevented it being a 5 star rating. 1. They take a pending payment for the room at check in, then charge the full amount at the end whilst they cancel the initial pending payment. This caused some confusion and because you have to wait for the money to return to your account (could take a couple of days), it put a couple checking out by the side of us into their overdraft. 2. Previous holidays we’ve had with special birthdays, the hotels have organised a complimentary birthday cake. We asked for one here and when settling the bill saw that they charged us a considerable amount extra for it. Other tips, make sure you don’t have a train track facing room and the shop next door is a fraction of the prices for soft drinks and water. On the other hand, the terrace bar on 5 is stunning and the roof top spar on 6 has an amazing sunset view. Breakfast is good but the Margarita pizza on the terrace bar was amongst the best I’ve tasted.

We stayed at Hotel Michelangelo in September of 2021 and overall found it to be a decent hotel but there were some issues.
The main issue is that their website is misleading. It leads you to believe the hotel is waterfront and has sweeping sea views when it does not. It is in town. The location is very convenient but it's not on the water as the photos suggest.
We booked a classic room with balcony, rather than the economy room, because the photo on the web site showed a sea view. When we checked in, our room had a view overlooking train tracks with no sea in sight. We went to the front desk and asked to be moved to a room with a sea view, since that is what we booked, and were told that only one room in the hotel has a sea view and it was booked. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, they offered us another room not overlooking train tracks - for a higher price. We continued to express our dissatisfaction and they offered us another room that was the same price as our original room but had a street view which overlooked the wall of a building with someone's laundry hanging on a clothes line. At this point we were ready to cancel our reservation altogether and find another hotel and when we expressed this, they offered us one more room which was a little nicer and overlooked the pool. It wasn't what we wanted but we decided it would do.
We felt sorry for the clerks at the front desk because it was clear that this was an ongoing issue and others before us had complained about the misleading website photos but apparently management has decided to keep the photos up in order to bring in more business.
The only sea view from this hotel is (as mentioned previously) from one room as well as the rooftop sun deck.
The hotel exterior and lobby are very attractive and make the hotel look more luxurious than it is. The rooms themselves are basic and not luxurious in any way. The beds weren't that comfortable and the mattresses seemed to be of a lower quality. Only one pillow was provided per person so we had to ask for more. No tissues were provided.
On the plus side, the hotel has a convenient location with a quick walk to the center of town and all the shops and restaurants. There is a nice pool at the hotel but it is unheated and was too cold for us to use. There is also a hot tub on the rooftop sundeck, but it's not heated so the water was cool, not hot. The staff were all friendly and a nice breakfast was included with an array of items to choose from.
All in all this was an "okay" hotel but we really did not appreciate being misled. This was a special trip for us and our first trip to Italy and we made a special effort to look for accommodations with a sea view so we were quite disappointed. We also didn't appreciate being offered rooms that weren't much better and only offering us something half decent when we threatened to cancel our reservation. This hotel needs to improve its business practices.

We were here for one week in November 2022. We chose the hotel because of its central location and good reviews in respect of managing dietary requirements. It did not disappoint on either.
My husband has Coeliac disease and his needs were catered for brilliantly. All the restaurant staff were wonderful and made us feel like VIPs in how they looked after us…..from the first meal to the last they knew his requirements and did not have to be reminded. At dinner the restaurant team would explain the choices on the menu in terms of what was already gluten free and what could be adapted. There was always a gluten free dessert on offer, often something special not on the menu. We were on half board so we ate in the restaurant every night and the food was always delicious. The wine list had a variety of local wines and we felt that the prices were OK for a 4 star hotel….€6 for a largish glass and €20 upwards for a bottle.
Breakfast offered fresh fruit, yoghurts, breads, jam, pastries and other sweet items plus a small selection of hot items. A gluten free roll, croissant, cereal and something sweet were delivered to our table each morning. Coffee was from a machine although some mornings we were offered freshly brewed coffee..…it seemed to depend on who was on duty.
The hotel is very centrally located, less than 5 minutes walk to the railway/bus station and just a little further to the main square. We booked a balcony room and had a nice view of the pool (although this had closed for the season when we were there). The room and bed were comfortable and had a mini bar and a safe but no tea making facilities. All the staff we met were helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one.
The hotel is in the town rather than overlooking the sea, so does not have the spectacular views of some other places and will not suit you if you want to be near the beaches or have sea views but if you want attentive service, good food and a convenient location for sightseeing then you will not do better. Thank you Hotel Michelangelo, you made our first visit to Sorrento very special and memorable

We stayed at this hotel as a part of a tour. When we read about the hotel room that was part of the tour package we contacted the hotel and asked to upgrade to a room with a seaview. We were told there was only one room in the hotel with a seaview and that we could reserve at an additional cost. They did not describe the room in any way, just said it had a seaview. When we arrived and were shown to the room we discovered that while it had a seaview it was very small (hard for two of us to move around without bumping into each other, especially with our luggage). When we asked to move to a larger room there were no options. This was disappointing, if we had known that the price of a sea view was such a small room we may not have upgraded.
In addition to the room being small, the shower was very small. The smallest we have experienced in our travels. Next to the hotel is the train station for the local trains. The trains run late into the night (11 ish) and start again around 5:30 am. Our room was on the other side of the hotel, but we still heard them. If you are a light sleeper it might be a problem for you.
The hotel is in a good location, walkable to the main historic area and lots of cafes and restaurants. The staff is friendly and the breakfast buffee was good.

We've just come back from Hotel Michaelangelo and seriously the service and hospitality shown by every single person working there that we came across was just fantastic. The restaurant team were just wonderful and the 3 or 4 course meals were like time dining in an expensive restaurant! I am a vegetarian and Francesco and his team always made something for me which I.liked if I wasn't keen on what was on the menu for the veggie option. They always greeted us and went above and beyond. We have travelled a lot and have never cone across such great service.
The room was always spotlessly cleaned and they even left sweet cakes in our room the day before we left. We had a room which had a sea view and a balcony which we weren't expecting so that was a wonderful bonus!
The breakfasts had a lot of variety and there was some hot items available!
Thank you to everyone in the team and especially to Francesco for accommodating my dietary needs!
Just an wonderful hotel!
Location is great too.

Had an amazing holiday, staying in this hotel, can not fault it at all. Our room had a balcony with a pool view, it was very spacious and spotless. The pool, roof top terrace and bar were all very spacious with plenty of free sun beds if you want to sunbathe. Most people are out daily, sightseeing but the hotel has everything you need if you are there just to relax. The food was lovely, breakfast was continental with lots of choice. The evening meal was waiter service with plenty choice. All the staff in the hotel were so lovely, very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The location is very central to everything. The train station is right next door and only a ten minute walk into the square. If you turn right out of the hotel, there is a lovely little local bar called banana splits, if you fancy lunch or a drink, they are very welcoming. Can not fault this hotel at all, would definitely return, had a lovely holiday visiting some amazing places. Thank you to everyone at the Michelangelo.

The Hotel Michelanglo is in a great location, only a couple blocks from the train/bus station, and in the middle of the shopping/restaurant area. We stayed 4 nights. We arrived by train from Naples, we walked our roller bags to the hotel. One day we took the train to Pompei, and another day the bus to Positano/Amalfi. We walked down to the harbor for the boat ride to Capri.
The hotel staff was great. Check-in was easy/fast, all the staff we met was friendly and helpful. The room was pleasant, it nice to have a balcony to get extra space and to relax on. But their 5th floor sun deck is great. We had drinks with the friends we were traveling with a couple of evenings. One morning on our way out to explore we mentioned it was my wife's birthday, when we returned that day there was a bottle of champagne in our room!
The breakfast buffet is good, they assist with serving some items, others are self serve. Good food quality.
We had an early morning departure, so we checked out the night before, and they had a bag-snack ready for us to take with us in the morning.
