We were originally booked at the Hotel Sonya, but they said it was full and we were going to stay at the Hotel Opera. What a nice hotel. We had a huge room (by European standards) and the bathroom was huge too. The room was always immaculate and the a/c worked well. There was always someone at the front desk...

We had a great stay at the Hotel Opera in June /July 2009. We hadn't been to Italy for many years and found Hotel Opera to be a very pleasant surprise. The room was recently (and quite lavishly) refurbished and quite spacious (even with an additional bed for our 14 year old son). The bathroom was huge. There was free...

We stayed in the hotel in July 2009. It was located convenient to shops, bars and all the main tourist attractions. The rooms were bright and airy and the staff polite, and helpful. The facilities were modern and the rooms kept clean and tidy. The cost was reasonable. I'd certainly consider staying there again. Some of the shops around the...

I booked this direct with the hotel, it was the best price around (425 Euros) for 4 nights in July, which was excellent value for the centre of Rome. Great location - near metro (2 mins), buses etc if you want them. All major sites within walking distance (10/15 min Trevi Fountain, Colosseum etc). Rooms - Good size with TV,...

Hotel opera was absolutely fantastic to myself and my fiancee on our recent tip to rome. We were there to book our wedding for next year and had stayed in tuscany so when landed in rome had nowhere booked. We stumbled across the hotel and hav to say were absolutely delighted- they hada cancellation for a suite and so gave...

This is small hotel (sister hotel of Hotel Sonya nearby) but the rooms were clean and the air conditioning was excellent. Via Firenze is not a busy street, so the hotel is quiet at night - besides the double-glazed windows would keep it quiet even if on a busy street. The location, near the train station, makes it ideal for...

The hotel and rooms were very clean. The staff was very helpfull and friendly. The room was not a triple room, what we ordered, but a double with a third bed, so very small. The breakfastroom was to small for all the guests, so you had to wait. But, I would go back! There was no streetnoise ans the location...

I pre-paid my room about 45 days before I left and felt like I got a great deal. The room was updated and the perfect size for my teenage daughter and myself. The shower was also nice, not too small, and was cleaned every day. The only thing was that the room was a little on the dark side, very...

Very well located, comfortable hotel with very friendly service. The room was big, the bathroom to. For English tourists - yes, they have an electric kettle in the room, tea and coffee included. Strongly recommended!

Clean, quiet and modern rooms with low noise AC. Rooms small but still ok. Close to Metro, bus and Termini. Very friendly and helpful stuff, free internet. It was excellent for our sightseeing tour!

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
