My husband and I loved this hotel so much, we booked it twice! When we arrived in Rome from Houston, we stayed in this lovely hotel in Trastevere. Within walking distance of great restaurants, we really felt we experienced something special.. Our room was a suite with a great view of the gardens below and had a little sitting room which was nice. We liked the coffee and tea provided in the room. The reception and staff members were all very kind and helpful to us both times. We loved having breakfast in the beautiful courtyard. I will definitely come back!!!

The customer service has been outrageous from beginning to start. No one helped us with our luggage, I'm pregnant and we were also carrying our toddler. We were assigned to the wrong room. When we claimed and got the right room there was litter on the carpet. The waitress bringing breakfast to the room started us yelling to get back a plate, in a very disrespectful manner. The staff at the reception told my husband "ahh, so if there was a guillotine instead of the traffic restriction to enter your car to the hotel you would have yourself killed?" - what a horrible way to talk to a person (please consider he was picking me up to go to the church to get married). The next morning at breakfast guests would have to fight with each other to get a coffee every time the waitress went outside and started yelling "I have a coffee and a cappuccino, who wants them?" - felt like a flea market of drinks. Shameful. When we left, no one helped us with our luggage again, I wasn't even expecting it, we just wanted to get our of there. I sent an email to the hotel sharing the experience, they never replied. Called a week later, the general manager replied saying that it was impossible that none of this was true, that no one talked to me ever at the hotel, that I should have said that I was pregnant if I wanted help and that there's no one else to talk. She basically called us liars What a disaster. I never want to go back there. Save your money, Rome is full of lovely and worthy places to stay

The hotel is a former convent and as such is a beautiful building. There were only a handful of guests there when we visited, and the restaurants were closed during the day after breakfast. I had emailed the hotel in advance to say it was our wedding anniversary. All the staff at the hotel were fantastic, except for one sullen, unhelpful receptionist, who really clouded our visit. She did not wish us happy anniversary on arrival, and gave us the wrong room type. she clearly had not checked the notes on her system. We got the room changed but when I rang down to ask for bath robes (there were supposed to be robes in every room), I was unbelievably told to 'ask again tomorrow'! When I said words to the effect of 'you have to be kidding', robes miraculously appeared. The next day, my husband asked for milk to have with our tea. The same receptionist said we couldn't have any, as the restaurant was closed. This is not a Holiday Inn, this is a 4 star plus hotel, for which we paid £190 per night! My husband had to leave the hotel and go and find a shop that sold milk, in the rain! We paid for an upgraded room and the bathroom was so small you could literally not swing the proverbial cat (see photo). Considering there were so few guests, and we could not get anything to eat or drink in the hotel after breakfast, an upgrade would have been appreciated by way of compensation (especially given it was our wedding anniversary). To charge full price but not offer full facilities is poor, and the hotel was let down big time by the receptionist.

This hotel has everything for a memorable trip to Rome.Firstly, the building dates to the mid 17th century founded by an Italian noblewoman, Donna Camilla Virginia Savelli(Farnese) and was an Augustinian nunnery and Monastery.The grotto below was used to hide Jews in WW11.The convent church is set perpendicular to the reception area.So we entered this historic building in a taxi from Fiumecino Rome airport through a magnificent, Baroque portal. We were greeted by the ultra professional, efficient and charming Alessandro and Maria.We were shown to a room on the second floor(there are lifts) but you have to use the grand staircase to experience the nun's footsteps. The room was........gorgeous.Historic, preserved, wooden ceiling, antique furniture, Juliet balcony with shutters overlooking a beautiful, tranquil courtyard garden( nun's cloister) plus breathtaking views of Rome and luxuriously comfortable bed. The en-suite was in keeping with the building with an electric point to the side of the mirror.N.B.3 pin euro plug.We had 2 pin euro adaptors so had to buy 3 pin adaptor.Good, high wattage hair drier-so needn't have brought my own.In-room coffee/tea tray but no milk provided however Alessandro organised milk for me which was kept cool in the in-room fridge/mini bar.The wardrobe provided enough space for our 5 day stay and the safe within that area above the mini bar was of a good size. The room was supremely quiet in stark contrast to our hotel room in Sardinia.We never heard the cleaning staff but the rooms were kept immaculately. Social distancing was observed by all staff and most of the clients.Everyone wore masks in communal areas.Breakfast entailed ordering from a buffet which was displayed in a porticoed area off the main corridor.Items placed on a tray for you which one then carried or had carried for you to the enchanting courtyard garden. The church which is part of the hotel still holds sevices and is truly beautiful housing a painting of St.Augustine of Hippo by Carlo Maratta-what a find!!! Whilst staying at the hotel an Itialian film crew were filming Woody Allen filmed To Rome With Love in suite 504 too).A rather splendid wedding was held here too but no noise after 12.00 p.m.There is a lovely, roof-top terrace where you can sit and survey the whole of Rome-great for taking city view shots and chilling out after dinner. The location of the hotel is perfect on Via Garibaldi looking down on the city of Rome.We walked to a few of the many restaurants in Trastevere within 10-15 minutes along romantic, narrow, historic streets.It is also near to the most impressive fountain-Fontana dell'Acqua Paola, at the top of Janiculum hlll (known as 8th hill of Rome) on which the hotel(convent) was built and only a short walk. We really felt comfortable and safe in room 208 (executive room) and really didn't want to leave this gem of a hotel.I hope we can return after the covid 19 epidemic has been eradicated/abated.Many thanks to the hotel staff who did such a wonderful job under trying circumstnces.Gracie mille.

Lovely communal areas, great location, very comfortable bed and very friendly and accommodating staff. However there were a few issues with the hotel: The hot water pressure is weak...the cold water is fine, but the weak hot water pressure means the showers are very disappointing. This must be an issue with the way the water is heated (rather than a water pressure issue) as it only effects the hot water (you could have a very powerful cold shower if you wanted!). Breakfast is very disorganised: guests gather around a serving hatch to place their order and there is no discernible queuing system. The service was very slow: this is not the fault of the waiter, but rather the system, as the waiter has to go and collect each item that the guest asks for, returning to the buffet when the guest has an additional request. On most days only one person was serving, meaning there is often a wait until you’re served: One day we had to stand and wait for 20 minutes until we were served. We recognise that covid restrictions might mean a reduced staff, but the hotel was not THAT busy, and this process could provide a far better customer experience with some minor changes (for example, allowing customers to place their order from the table and have it brought over, like I’ve seen done in other hotels/vars recently). They had hand sanitizer stations around the hotel, but many of these were empty for the entire 4 nights of our stay. In fact, only one had sanitizer in it. We got a sense that these were placed here for “show” or to comply with some guidelines, rather than to provide a safe environment for the guest. Be aware of the pigeons! There are a lot of them in the outdoor breakfast area. If you leave the table for a second, they will be up on your table, after your food. We also saw pigeons walking over freshly laid tables and cutlery. Clean your cutlery before you use it, as there is a chance that a pigeon took a stroll over it! Finally, the bar was closed for most of our stay, open only one night. On that night, there was no bar man there, and we had to go looking for someone to serve us All in all, the hotel is lovely, but there are clearly resourcing issues and they haven’t optimised their processes in light of recent covid restrictions. This should not be used as an excuse, as several other hotels that we’ve stayed in over the Summer have not had the issues we encountered here
