After 25 years of extensive business and personal travel around the world I have never had a hotel call me the night before check in to tell me that they were cancelling everyone's (6 in the party) rooms. This was only hours after sending an email to everyone confirming the reservations and trying to sell add ons and upgrades!! The...

This hotel is quite beautiful, the location is great, and the customer service excellent. It is in a very walkable neighborhood and not far from the many attractions that Rome has to offer. The photos on their website do not do it justice. Breakfast that was served was fantastic. Many options to choose from. The rooftop terrace had only a...

I would have given this hotel a five star rating but for one thing. Hotel rating The Good stuff Beautiful building - restored 17th century convent Location - calm and quiet but close to hustle and bustle of Rome. Twenty minute walk to the Colosseum a bit more to the Vatican City. Free use of a mobile device - phone...

This beautiful hotel was one of the highlights of our stay in Rome. Trastevere is the best neighborhood to stay in: quiet, gorgeous, with cute restaurants and shops and an expansively green botanical garden nearby. The hotel had a lush garden and comfortable, big rooms with opulent marble and granite features. The breakfast buffet was extensive and had something for...

We stayed at the hotel during a short vacation. The building was an old monastery, which seemed to be partly active even today. On the first floor you could find an old church hall. The architect of the building was Francesco Borrmini no less. You do not have to be a religious person to enjoy the high quality and peacefulness...

Walking distance to Vatican and central Rome. Great for solo travellers. Friendly staff. Excellent restaurants and bars close by. Private serene feeling since you are in a monastery. Comfortable room. Feels like an exclusive boutique hotel.

A delightful place to stay for a special visit; the hotel was a monastery and there is still a chapel operating and a small group of nuns in an adjoining area. The staff are extremely helpful and the garden is a great place for breakfast. The area is within easy reach (walking) of most places though you have to watch...

Has a lovely rooftop where you get a great view of the city. Ideal for watching the sun go down with a Spritz in your...

This is the second time in three years that I have stayed at this hotel. I first used it while attending at a conference in the city. I was impressed with the location, the breakfast, and the quality of the rooms. So, when my wife and I decided to vacation in Rome this year, I suggested we stay at the...

The building is really beautiful. The decoration of the rooms look dated - should go for an elegant timeless décor as the rest of the hotel. On checking, I found that my booking from Booking.com shown 1 adult instead of 1 adult, 1 child. They asked me to pay 30 euros per day (3 days). I said that it was...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
