Stefano was great, making a reservation at the Borghese and confirming a tour. His sister was willing to go out and get cream for coffee. However, the helpfulness does not outweigh the accomodations. We did not enjoy Rome as much because of how terrible it was. Here are the problems: 1. Not a quiet neighborhood 2. Drapes do not cover...

We stayed here twice- once in the orange room and once in the green. The orange room was ok but green was great- with A/C and an ensuite bathroom which the orange doesnt have- and its the same price! Breakfast is quite average but not terrible. Its not far from rome, we walked in every day- about 20-30 minutes walk...

We felt so lucky to have found this B&B - spotlessly clean and smartly decorated, with good breakfasts, lovely owners and a great location 15 mins walk from the Colosseum. Will be recommending this place to everyone I know!

It was by need and chance that I've found the room, but it was a pitty that I couldn't find it sooner. It is not easy to find the place, and that is not very nice... however, the availability of the staff to help is great. For this I give a 3 for identification and 5 for staff... About the...

We booked the room 15 hours before our arrival and there was no problem with this at all, The staff was realy friendly. the breakfast was rich and delicious, with yoghurts, croissants, creamcheese, bagels, jams, fresh (staff) home-made coffee. We really enjoyed the location: the Colosseum and the Victor Emmanuel st. was only a 10 minute walk from the hotel....

My friends and I were so happy that we discovered this little B&B. There were four us in our party and we had two of the three rooms available at Gentes. Stefano was very friendly and offered great advice for touring Rome. He also spoke English well. Everything was very clean and neat. The bathroom, though located outside the room,...

My mum and I stayed at the Gentes B&B at easter weekend, for my second visit to Rome, and it was perfect! Excellent value for money! When we arrived, we didn't know what to expect... it seemed small, like a little apartment. Stefano was there to welcome us, and he couldn't have been more helpful! :) Our room and the...

I stayed in the double purple room for 2 nights a couple of weeks back and I must say, it is quite spacious! Although it was private onsuite, the bathroom was not within the same room. Not much an issue though. The room and bathrooms were kept in very good condition and was sparkling clean. There are some minor cooking...

My stay at Gentes was very comfortable. The property is small, clean and modern, offering a nice breakfast daily. Its central location makes moving around rome convenient with walking to nearby attractions like the Colloseum. It is 2 minutes from the Linea A subway stop, which traverses the city and its many sites. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Gentes B&B is a few meters away from the second largest Basilica in Rome and a few minutes' walk from the main symbol of Rome, the Colosseum. The hotel is located in the heart of the capital's history: the popular Via Tasso, actually, is the site of the Historical Museum of the Liberation of Italy and even if is in a central position in Rome, is extremely quiet, because it's away from the main streets and protected by the building of the Scala Santa. ... more   less
