Hotel dei Barbieri rises in a 1600’s Roman Palace and has been entirely designed and renovated in 2017. All the materials chosen for the palace renewal are natural, the 17 guest rooms have been individually furnished by local artisans keeping the original features. Accommodations at Hotel dei Barbieri intertwine modernity, technology, and luxury. Some accommodations come complete with a private balcony, others have 5 meters high ceilings and from many of them it is possible to enjoy the view of 1600’s frescoes.

Great stay in genuine and unique hotel a few minutes walk from the Pantheon.
The hotel is in a restored 17th century building with tastefully designed and very spacious rooms. Our family of four with two teenage girls stayed in a suit with separate bedrooms and bathrooms. One bedroom had a large lounge area.
We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the gentle staff.
We would love to come back!

We stayed at the suite 3A (2 connecting rooms) as we were a 4 member family with two kids. Adrianne warmly welcomed us to the hotel and assisted us all the way and we thank her for that. She gave us full details of the sighseeings and things to do around. The hotel was an old but renovated building with a great modern design and a seperate restaurant right across its entrance. The room was quite- no noise from outside (maybe though not that soundproof since we could hear the lady's heel from the upper floor but that was not a real issue)-, spacious, quite clean and in a good location. The only thing that i can negatively comment is the fact that in the already high price (700euros/3nights Fabruary 2020), the breakfast was not included.

Had a quick over-nighter in Rome and this hotel exceeded my expectations! Front desk auditor, Adriane, was so well versed in English and gave me great restaurant recommendation in Trastevere! She went above and beyond! Also, she made it easy by booking a taxi directly to airport FCO which was super easy and efficient.

Great on-site restaurant and ideal location to visit many sites nearby. Comfortable beds, nice coffee/tea station and great service by front desk staff. Will definitely stay again because of exceptional service.

Hotel is very archaic and maintains the Italian integrity and fabric of the past era. Must see gorgeous ceilings!

Stayed for 3 nights while on a trip to Rome with my partner. We hadn’t visited the city before so were very happy with the location as it was very central - 10 minutes walk to Pantheon, 20 minutes to Colosseum and Trevi. There were lots of nice restaurants and wine bars around too and some decent shopping so this is what the 3 stars is for. From a facility point of view I wasn’t impressed with the hotel - no restaurant or bar area, no breakfast (served in the room but no table to eat at really) and the WiFi was terrible it couldn’t hold a 30 minute zoom call with no video I needed to do for work and although the tv has Netflix etc it was very slow to load. Added to this we stayed in room 14 which is right on the street and it was very noisy as there’s not really any soundproofing. I’m a light sleeper so earplugs mostly solved the problem at night but it wasn’t a place we would have wanted to relax in during the day. Also the hotel is in an old palace which is misleading from the photos as actually it is VERY rustic, which is part of the charm I guess but maybe not suit everyone. The staff were nice and helpful - they did offer to move our room on the second day but it was easier to stay out than pack up everything and move as we were busy while there. Overall a fine experience but we are unsure if we would stay here again. Having said that we have not stayed in another hotel in Rome so don’t have anything within the city to compare to but in my experience it didn’t really feel 4 star, more like a boutique 3 star.

What I’ll say is that this hotel makes for great pictures. It’s an old building with real (original?) fresco ceilings. But because of the building’s age, each room is shaped a bit differently. I was surprised when my “superior” room didn’t look quite like the images found online... or feel as spacious. The mattress could use some updating after 4 years. The wifi didn’t work in my room and so I just relied on data on my phone. And the shower took a looooong time to heat up (old pipes I guess). On the plus side, you are super close to all three Roscioli’s which makes for an easy and delicious way to grab breakfast or lunch or dinner.

Just spent 3 nights at this hotel. Our room was great and the hotel is situated in a great central location. We were able to walk to all the major sites we wanted to see and in the evening there are several places to eat and drink within a few minutes walk.
The staff were excellent! Always met with a smile at reception and all questions and requests were no problem at all.

Ok, aesthetically, the hotel was beautiful. Great for pics.
The negatives, though, far out way the positives. We got the distinct feeling the staff have a major cultural problem when it comes to customer service. In fact, I have never been witness (while sitting in lobby) of a hotel with more customer complaints from other guests.
Personally, our bed was rock-hard. Super thin pillows. The air conditioner in our children’s room was broken & their room smelt of off milk. There was terrible ventilation in the bathroom, I can’t even imagine what it would be like in warmer months!
We were not told about a hotel breakfast across the road. (We stumbled across it on Day 3) We even asked about breakfast on check in, and were told ‘breakfast isn’t available’
The ice machine was broken, when we asked about ice. Overall, customer service was dreadful.
We also didn’t like the bags & bags of rubbish outside the front of hotel, constantly.
Disappointing stay with what looked like a lovely hotel.

I booked a different hotel and was sent here instead. Apart from the foyer- it’s awful. A soulless windowless room broken air con, used toiletries, no information or anyway to contact staff. It is a miserable place. The tv had no adjustable volume working and I couldn’t get a wifi signal. They control the air con and turn it off completely in the evening so I was just overheating. Terrible sleep in a really miserable place with no atmosphere, breakfast is across the road, something nobody even bothered to tell me. Wish I didn’t have to stay another night

I highly recommend this quaint hotel because of its close walking proximity to restaurants and monuments. An Asian young supervisor at the front , Adriena, was very kind, helpful, friendly and always smiling to my wife and me. I felt very welcome not being able to speak Italian but communication was so very easy. Also, at the hotel restaurant Barbieri 23 was good for wine but when in Rome, you have to eat and drink like the Romans do in all the little spots and alley ways. Amazing trip and if you visit this hotel, simply walk in to see the amazing ceilings. Will surely be back again :)

This very stylish & chic hotel in Rome is optimally located. This antique palazzo has been converted to very large and beautifully designed modern rooms while capturing the unique qualities of the original building. The staff was very attentive and helpful.
