The IQ Roma is by far a hidden gem in Rome. The location is a short 5 minute walk from the train station ( area is fine for tourists to be out and about) rooms have a mini- fridge so you can stock up on snacks from the local supermarket (Despar) also only a 5 minute walk. For us coffee...

I chose this hotel for its proximity to the train station as I was just overnighting and it was exactly what I needed, although very different from the usual Italian hotels I stay in. After a longish train ride it was great to be able to walk to the hotel and be greeted by very friendly staff and a cool,...

This 4 star hotel beats almost every 4 star in the US, and especially Rome. It is a flat rate, 48 euro from the airport to the hotel via Taxi, and a short 2 block walk to Termini Train Station. As everyone mentions, the hotel is modern, and has everything you would want for what little time you should spend...

No real complaints with this hotel -- clean, decent-sized room, good location, good breakfast. Views were nothing special as Rome goes, even from the rooftop. Staff are efficient and polite but not particularly friendly or personable. Five-minute walk from Repubblica metro station, 5 minutes from Santa Maria Maggiore, between 10-20 minutes' walk for many of the other major sites (Colosseum,...

Fantastic hotel which appears to be recently refurbished as all the finishes are quite modern & trendy. The hotel has everything that is needed except for tea/coffee making facilities which was fine as tea & coffee is available at the reception counter. There are some lovely restaurants nearby within easy walking distance. We dined at Ristorante Esperia where the waiters...

We stayed here 2nd - 6th June. Hotel is located just off Via Nazionale but along a side street so very quiet for a good night's sleep. It is within walking distance of almost everything. We only used public transport once and that was to go to Ostia Antica, outside of the city. We just walked everywhere else. It's about...

A new and modern hotel very close to Termini station and reasonable walking distance to most of the sights. Our room was spacious, modern, super clean with a surprisingly roomy bathroom (2 showers!). It is also in a fairly quiet area so should get decent quality sleep. Amenities are good and the vending machines are actually cheaper than the local...

This was my 2nd trip to Rome, staying one night after a cruise. I wanted to stay at the same and breakfast that is in eye sight of Vatican City. While a room was available, the price was almost double than what it was in 2010. I decided on IQ Hotel Roma, which was a great choice. Loved the room,...

The IQ hotel is a perfect place to stay when in Rome. The location is excellent, the staff most helpful with very good English. A lot of the tourist atractions are within walking distance and a metro station is nearby too.The 10 Euro breakfast on the top floor is very good too. The rooms are a bit small when you...

This was my first visit to Rome. I was insistent on staying within walking distance of the major sights. This hotel fit the bill perfectly. The cab from the airport dropped us right at the door. The hotel is easy to navigate with luggage--no stairs. The room was ample in size, the bathroom was large by European standards, and everything...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
IQ is a 4-star hotel, with a twist! Located in downtown Rome, just a short 15 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain or the Colosseum and with Repubblica metro station just 200 metres away, hotels don't get much central than this. IQ guests enjoy free Wi-Fi connection throughout the hotel, a lovely terrace where to unwind overlooking the Opera House, and free access to our gym and sauna. We believe in tailor-made hospitality, so there are vending machines in virtually every floor, where you can buy yourself a bottle of wine, a pack of crisps, a tooth-brush or even an umbrella (not that you'll need it often!), All at very competitive prices. Now that you've found us... Welcome to a whole new hotel experience! IQ STAFF ... more   less
