My wife and I stayed at "Casa di Accoglienza Paolo VI" for eight nights. There is no curfew for this monastery as they provide you with three keys (gate, front door, and room) for independent access. Even though the sister at the reception didn't speak English that well, we were able to communicate using hand gestures and Google Translate :)...

We initially stayed at Casa Accoglienza for 4 nights in June. It was practically just across the street from the Vatican. The neighborhood: The Vatican entrance is less than 500 meters away-- though on the downside, the street you pass thru could be crowded during the day. But in the late afternoon/evening, it's a very quiet and deserted neighborhood albeit...

We just checked out after staying here for 3 days. Sad to leave but all good things must come to an end I guess:) Firstly, the guest house is gated and you need 3 keys to enter: first the gate, front door and your room. You will really feel safe here! The location is superb for any Vatican activity, all...

Right across the street from the Vatican Museum entrance. Kitchen is okay. So you can buy some groceries...no real dishes or cutlery, looks like abandoned items. Decent wifi after you get the username and password. Note: very little English is spoken, though it doesn't matter. You are totally independent; 3 keys, to room, building and wall gate. Having said that,...

There are two different names used for this accommodation, "Piccole Suore Sacra Famiglia" and "Paolo VI Guest House". It is located at Viale Vaticano, 92. I reserved rooms for seven people via email, info@casapaolosesto.it, they except you to pay your bill in cash upon arrival. I wired money in advance. Only one person on staff spoke English. She was extremely...

We stayed here over the Christmas period, with the intent of being in the Vatican for Christmas day and for Christmas mass in St Peter's Basilica (we had a ticket - please note you must apply for and have tickets to have Christmas or Easter mass in the basilica, they are free). If you are wanting to spend some time...

I stayed a couple of nights on my own whilst studying in the Museo di Roma. Reception, room and building are immaculate; and excellent value for about €35 a night. The single room and ensuite bathroom were small and functional - I can't remember when I last slept in such a narrow bed! There was a mosquito when I arrived...

Gem of a place for a family. Well maintained and centrally located and good value for money. We stayed there (family with 2 children) and hired a quadruple. Though language is a limitation we were able to manage. Located opposite to Vatican Museum with walking distance from metro stations. Dining options in the area though are not great.

I stayed with a group of students in the Casa di Accoglienza Paolo vi at the beginning of this month, April 2014. The place was immaculately kept, everything was really clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful although the complex where we stayed was separate from the main house and we didn't see many members of staff around....

This trip to Rome I was with my mother. She had not been in Rome since the 1960's and she had never stayed in a convent hostel, so she was thrilled to find it was so nice, and of course so close to the main attraction of Rome: Vatican city. Stefano handled our (direct through monastrystays.com) email booking with efficient...

“Book room away from the street”

“All rooms are basically the same. This is a convent-run place. It is not a tropical resort so you don't have to worry about someone having pool-view when you don't.”
  • Morning view from room 7 ( I think). Looking onto a typical Roman-red building.

“On my two visits I have stayed in a room in the front close Viale Vaticano. The street traffic was not a problem and I never experienced a sleepless night. Others, however, may prefer a room away from the street in the year close to the deck The large deck, which is furnished witth a covered table with chairs, overlooks a few quiet streets below and provides a view of the suburbs of Rome in the distance.”

“A room away from the main road would be quieter, if you leave the window open.”

“The room we had was great, guessing they are all good. I prefer ground floor so that it's easier in/out.”
