This has been a great stay from start to finish - we selected the hotel as it has an excellent location. It’s a short walk from the termini station and near the colosseum with a tube station literally two doors down. However, it offers so much more than that. Genuinely friendly and helpful staff, well equipped comfortable rooms and a cornucopia of choice from the buffet breakfast.
The rooms have aircon, tea and coffee making facilities, great bathrooms, comfortable beds with great linen ...
There’s a room safe for small valuables and coat hooks so you don’t have to hang coats in the wardrobe ... seems like they have thought of everything and they certainly give the impression that if they haven’t, all you have to do is ask.

The Napoleon is a lovely hotel located close to the Termini railway station.
Location wise, it is located very close to the Termini Railway station. We walked it there from the hotel in under 5 minutes, carrying two large suitcases.
It is about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Colleseum.
There is a metro station right outside the hotel which is good for travelling around the city.
The local neighbourhood has a lot of local shops and local restaurants which are more reasonably priced than those in the town centre.
The rooms are a good size and look as if they have been recently decorated in a tasteful yellow coloured theme.

The breakfast had a mixture of continental and cooked items, and had a good range of items. I am a vegetarian and found it to have a very good selection.
There is a large lounge area which is tastefully decorated and has high comfortable chairs, it is well spaced out, and nice to sit in and relax during the evening with a coffee or a drink.

A 4-star hotel with nice presentation pictures when booking but quite dated when you actually stay there. It feels like one of those "has-been" hotels, where the grandeur of past days has survived in the decor but where everything has a patina. No matter, all the important features are still present: staff is very welcoming, service is quite good, beds are excellent, cleanliness is still impeccable in spite of the old carpets and furniture, and I had a few of the best nights sleeps in months in this hotel. So highly recommendable, especially if you appreciate a touch of old magnificence in your hotels. On the negative side, the gym has to be revised, it consists of two small contiguous hotel rooms where the equipment barely fits and it feels like no one has ever used it in the last months. Also breakfast is not so bad but it is quite limited, after three days you start feeling it could be a little more diversified, and all the bread is of low quality.

First the rooms are small, I get that in Europe it’s smaller than USA but this is the worst. I shared a room with my parents and there was barely any room to walk. I’m surprised they sell that as a room for 3. The shower glass moves like a door back and forth. Spoke to front desk to come fix it, I was told they were to look and fix it. We came back and the glass door was not fixed. It was a different person and I was told that they are going to do updates later because of pandemic was hard. I guess you should have done that while the pandemic since you couldn’t rent rooms. Then next cleaning lady never wore a mask even though I asked the front desk to make the cleaning lady wear a mask because my dad is a high risk with diabetes. The cleaning lady just did the beds because she never gave us new soaps, shampoo, towels and toilet paper. So the next day we stayed in the room in the morning and the cleaning lady never knocked on the door and just skipped us. So I called the front desk to have them clean the room and do what she has to do. We went to the terrace for about 45 mins and came back to the room as we left it. I had to go to the bathroom but no toilet paper. They blamed each other saying no one called and the front desk saying he did. The bathroom is dirty, the grout is black, there is black mold under the window pane.

We visited here in the summer for 4 days with my boyfriend and my brother and sister. It was our first time in Rome and we were looking forward to the trip. It was my sisters 30th birthday whilst we were there, which the staff were aware of. The manager kindly brought my sister up some Champagne in a fancy ice bucket and a lovely handwritten note wishing her a happy birthday (she’s still got it pinned up on her fridge at home!) The staff couldn’t do enough for us and we felt very welcomed and at home! Rooms were slightly outdated but who’s picky about the decor when you spend about 10% of your stay in a room? The bed was comfy and clean and the bath and shower was nice. In me and my boyfriends room we even had a little balcony area where we could sit outside which was lovely. If we were to visit Rome again we’d definitely use this hotel!

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here, 2 were prior to the pandemic.
I had been in contact with them on several occasions by email to confirm the requested rooms, expected arrival etc., which they responded to.
At no time did they say that the owner had sold out to a company which is based in France, or that the Bar and Restaurant was no longer open for the evenings., This was the main reason for staying here, some evenings after a day walking the sites of Rome it ws nice to be able to chill out in the hotel. Also No Kettle or Tea Tray in our rooms on arrival, which had to be requested! No stocked Mini Bar, only a small Fridge with One bottle of water for the full 6 day stay.
They have now installed a Vending M/C in Reception, as no services are offered apart from the standard breakfast.
The Hotel has always been a little dirty in the communal areas, but the bedrooms were spotless, sadly this time the cleaning standard was very poor. our bedlinen and towels were changed only the once in our 6 night stay,
They are still advertising (and charging) 4* facilities and prices. This is at best a 3* bed and breakfast. This should have been downgraded when the Hotel ownership changed hands, but is still showing on all sites as a 4* hotel.
My sister and I are senior ladies and needed the facilities which were advertised and provided by every other 4* hotel in Rome
We had to go out for Dinner and Drinks every night which was not the plan., I could have booked a Bed & Breakfast elsewhere and paid the correct rate for this, but this hotel still charged me the full 4* price, no reduction was offered for the lack of services.
If you are looking for a clean 4* hotel in Rome with facilities as advertised, this is not the one for you,

We stayed over new year for 5 nights. Our room was ready on arrival and we were shown straight up . the rooms are basic but everything that you need . The staff were all lovely . Breakfast was nice , there is a lovely cafe next door that does drinks , pastries and the best hot chocolate you will ever taste . The metro station is right outside the front door and you are not far from the main train / bus station . There are lots of lovely restaurants nearby in this area too . I must thank the staff for the free bottle of Prosecco for my birthday which was a lovely surprise . The only Criticism is that the walls are very thin and we could hear everything from both our neighbours and as people are leaving / arriving with cases . Toilet paper was very rough might want to go out and get your own . I would choose this hotel again for the great transport links ( tram station also nearby ) and much less busy than the central hotels .

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel. We have just had a lovely 3 nights celebrating my wife’s 50th Birthday. The friendly staff could not have done more to make us welcome. We had a bottle of Prosecco sent to the room after we checked in and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spotless and the facilities were good. The bar served until 11.30pm and breakfast was 7-10 in the morning. The breakfast was normal
Continental but plenty to eat and nice and fresh. Would definitely recommend this to everyone.

The hotel location is the biggest asset going for it. We stayed 5 nights on our multi-city Italian vacation. The hotel is within a walking distance of the Colosseum and Santa Maria Maggiore and Termini, Rome main train station. The metro is also outside the hotel. It costs 1.50 euros, 4 stops to the Spagna station for shopping, the Spanish steps, Pantheon and others. It is a 7 metro stops to the Vatican Museum and St. Peter Basilica.

It is clean and housekeeping did a decent job of cleaning the room daily. The hotel staff are friendly. The room is standard for an European city (we had the Superior room 515). We prepaid the hotel with all the applicable fees. However, at checkout, we were surprised by the additional 60 euros charge. This was not disclosed to us by the hotel or the 3rd party we booked the hotel through. We could have made a different decision knowing the full cost of the stay. That was the only thing we were unhappy about.

The metro is located right out the front door of the Hotel. The staff is very helpful and very friendly. The breakfast that comes with the room is very good. The rooms were standard size for Rome and were confortable and clean. There are a number of good resturarnts in walking distance and we able to walk to a number of sites. The neiborhood is old but safe. The management went out of their way to help my Aunt celebrate her birthday by sending up a chilled bottle of Prosecco. What a generous gift.
