We stayed here for the first night of our honeymoon. We were only in Rome for one night, and we were able to see the Colosseum, which is pretty close by. We were also able to walk to the Termini, which was not too far away. Other than that, it is not in a particularly nice area. Walking outside the...

Dear Sir, I am grateful for the fact that you emphasize how easy is getting from the hotel to the Colosseum and to Termini station. In your ratings you rate also “very good” the cleanness, and the sleep quality. I am glad for this appreciation, but I wonder how you could value the other aspects of the hotel having such...

This was our first trip to Italy and we stayed in three different hotels in three different parts of the country. I chose the hotels based on Trip Advisor reviews, along with several guidebooks. I have to admit, I was most worried about this one, after noting that most of the "better" hotels in Rome charge $400+ per night, more...

My fiance and I stayed in this hotel our first few nights in Italy and it turned out to be the perfect location for us. Literally steps away from the Metro we were able to easily get to where we needed to go. Other reviewers have said the area wasn't really safe and not to walk in the park across...

My two (2) sisters and I stayed four (4) nights at this small, family run hotel which is near a bus and metro stop which takes one to most of the tourist spots that everyone wants to see. The rooms were small (we asked for three single rooms), but very clean. The breakfast was more than sufficient. But the most...

When we go back to Rome we won't even look at any other Hotels. Hotel Napoleon is located less than ten minutes from the colliseum, the metro is ten steps from the hotel entrance, and the gelato across the street is excellant! Also the head concierge Franco, made our stay very special, he went the extra mile all the time,...

The hotel is 5-10min walking from Termini station or 1 metro stop. Close to Colosseum and other places; The subway takes you in 10 min or so to Vatican. While walking from Termini, the area is not that pleasant though. Breakfast OK, staff is friendly, you have a comp to use internet if you need it. In the room the...

I stayed at this hotel after reading the reviews here. It was only an overnight stopover before I headed off to Sorrento and the hotel is nice and close to the train station. The hotel has an elegant feel to it, with a common lounge with a large TV and free internet. My room was tiny, but then I was...

It was my 3rd time in Rome and the first one at Napoleon. There´s no better cost benefit in this town. Great Staff, honest breakfast and central location. OK it´s not the most beautiful location on earth but it´s pretty close to everything. The room was spacious and comfortable with all the amenities one should need. Metro and buses at...

We had one night here passing through so admittedly not a very long impression but we won't be back. Our son who lived in Rome advised us not to walk there from Termini when we arrived about 10pm as the area between is 'dodgy' which we could see when we walked there in the morning when it was a pleasant...

Dear Sir, I am happy that you could appreciate your pleasant walk in the morning, therefore your experience of the area does not confirm your son’s assessment. Our rooms face onto internal courtyards, and this information is easily available on the web as well as in many TripAdvisor reviews. This feature makes the hotel Napoleon one of the quietest hotel...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
