Stayed at Marcella Royal in August 2013 and loved it. From our arrival (11.30am) the staff were very welcoming at reception and made speedy arrangements for us to get our room before the usual 2pm check-in time. The reception staff and porter were extremely friendly and helpful as we had to find our bearing during our first few hours there....

I stayed with my husband in the Royal Marcella for three nights. Granted, the rooms are small, but this is understandable given its an inner city hotel. I have to commend the hotel on their cleanliness. I'm usually very fussy when it comes to hygiene and cleanliness. Everything sparkled perfectly and the crisp white bed linen was changed regularly. Staff...

Couldn't praise this hotel highly enough, the staff were so pleasant and helpful and the rooms superb. The rooftop breakfast area was lovely and in the evenings was perfect to have a drink and watch the sun set over Rome. Everything was meticulous. The other benefit was it was in a quiet area only 15 minutes from Spanish Steps etc.

Nicely situated in a generally residential area of Rome. Literally a 15 minute walk to Trevi Fountain and Republica Metro station. The Marcela staff were the most friendly and knowledgeable during our first venture in Europe. The evening waiters at the rooftop restaurant made us feel at home. They would ask us how we spent the day and gave us...

We just stayed at the Grand Marcella Hotel in Rome. We had 2 rooms. Rooms were moderately large, but very clean. Bathroom was small with only a shower. The main advantage of this hotel is the staff - they were wonderfully helpful in directions and reservations. Breakfast on the 7th floor gives you a beautiful view of the city. The...

Great location to see more locals than tourists. The air conditioning in my room was excellent and the room size was above average, the beds were comfortable, plenty of towels, etc. There is a bread shop, mini grocery store, awesome pizza place (see Pinsere Roma review) 30 seconds away and only a 10 minute walk to one of the hop-on...

Fantastic wee boutique hotel just tucked away from the madding crowds of Roma. Only a 10-15 minute walk into the centre of Rome but lovely restaurants in the area if you want something more peaceful.. Staff were excellent and made us feel very welcome. Contemporary room with all mod cons available. Great air conditioning and the roof terrace was a...

We spent three nights at the Marcella Royal Hotel in July of 2013. The hotel is well maintained, clean and attractively decorated. The front desk staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful with all our needs. The breakfast buffet is quite good and the view from the terrace is very nice. There are several good restaurants within a short stroll from...

We had originally booked at the Hotel Bailey just down the street, but upon arrival were informed of a room issue and relocated to this Hotel. This hotel is more modern, but not my first choice. The rooftop dining was lovely, the breakfast buffet was just OK. The showers were dangerous and flooded the bathroom with each use (a full...

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
