Triple room in short notice in Rome, we may be lucky to find one, but rather expensive what it offers. Good location; Termini and two Metro stations near, 20 minute or so walk to Piazza Venezia and beyond(Colosseo is even before) Basic needs for stay are more less there; Enough room for three, bath, beds, a desk and a chair, a closet, a fridge(very weak..) and a miniature TV. Unfortunately mattresses are old, short, and hard. Need up to date textile of rooms as one can see in the photo…. Reception is manned 24 hours. Problem with hot water, which is not hot, just about warm enough not to freeze under the shower so need to hurry finish washing. Only amenities are; small bar of soap, small sachet of creamed wash gel. Cups are all plastic. No kettle. But plenty of towels (and bidet.) For our three nights stay, room cleaning seems not to be done thoroughly for some nights. Inclusive breakfast is the same everyday; 2 choices of cereal, pack of biscuits, pot of yoghurt, sweet croissants, slice of bread for toasting, sliced cheese and ham/salami, boiled eggs, a coffee machine, teabags, and a juice machine. One morning there were not enough plates, so we needed to use plastic plates. Check out is early, at 10am, but they keep your bags till late. We arrived early before 2pm, but they let us check in. All staff are friendly and helpful. Rather classic deco of hotel interior, I didn't mind.

We stayed at the Hotel Tirreno for 6 nights. From the moment we stepped in to the hotel we were made to feel very welcome. I would especially single out Salvatore and Ricardo on the front desk. Salvatore loved a chat and telling us about his family but also telling us good places to eat etc (There is a splendid little restaurant opposite serving the most delicious pizza and pasta at really good prices). Ricardo was really knowledgable about Rome giving us lots of directions and advice on where to go and how to get there. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was basic but clean, quiet and roomy and the added bonus to our room was that we had our own little garden area. We were in room 101 which made us as English folk laugh (1984). The breakfast was slightly disapppinting and that is why I gave it 4 stars and not 5. Nothing cooked and the juices were not the best but there was plenty of food so you wouldn't go hungry. There happened to be a rugby game on whilst we were there (Ireland v Italy) which we also went to which was lots of fun. The hotel is about 15 minute walk from the Coleseum and en route there is a Basilica containing a sculpture of Moses by Michaelangelo (Ricardo told us about that). Well worth a visit. We walked to almost every sight from our hotel and so I recommend a good pair of shoes. When I return to Rome and I will definitely be doing that I will be staying at the Hotel Tirreno

Summary: so disappointing! There’s a huge difference between what is advertised, what you pay for, and what you get. The location is great, the hotel itself is basic and run down, breakfast is terrible, the staff are tired and unhelpful, but for 150 euro/ night this hotel is probably standard for Rome. The location was great - 10 mins walk to Colloseum and Forum, 5 mins walk to the tourist bus stops. That is all that's good. The room descriptions/pictures on the website are misleading. None of the rooms look like the one on the website. In the description of standard rooms it says "some have a patio". There are 60+ rooms and only 1 has a patio (it's the triple or quadruple room, so NONE of the standard double rooms have a patio/balcony), so I think the statement "some of the rooms have patios", is absolutely false. We booked a “double room with a garden view”. We were put in a TWIN room with a view of the wall of the next building. I went to the desk requested if there were any other rooms with the garden view we paid for, and the double bed my husband and I paid to sleep in. I told them I was unhappy that we booked certain things that weren't met. The staff were tired and unhelpful. They said there is no garden, so there’s no garden view! All rooms have a view of concrete walls, and the hotel is booked out so no changes can be made. They said they would put the beds together (they never did). So me and my husband slid the beds together. When we would come back from our days out, the beds would be separated and made into twin again by the cleaners! LOL Rooms are small and dated. There is a fridge. The mattress is foam. Bathroom was small but had good facilities. Breakfast was terrible: there were only 6 things: toast, sweet croissants, one style of cheese, 2 styles of ham, canned fruit salad in syrup and yogurt tubs. That’s it, no changes every day. There was also not enough! Every morning all 6 things were on this one tiny table, and the 20+ breakfast guests would all clamber around the table and queue for the coffee machine. It was family run. The wife and nonna who prepared the awful breakfast looked very sweet! but the men are reception were unhelpful, unaccommodating, didn’t care, and didn't really didn’t do anything except check you in and out. Stay here if you’re desperate, you just need a bed and you can get it for cheap. Otherwise stay away.

I really enjoyed my 4 nights at the hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious. The location is perfect, only 10 mins walk from Roma Termini station (which is just over 30 mins train from the airport). If I was going to pick something to be negative about, it would be the breakfast, there were no hot options but what was there was fine.

Stayed at the Tirreno for four nights over Hogmanay. Very well-located hotel with friendly and helpful staff, just a short walk from the Colosseum in a little cobbled street. Close to the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. Very clean and sizeable en-suite room. Excellent breakfast with fresh rolls and pastries, yoghurt, cold meats and cheese, fruit juices, iced tea and fine freshly made cappuccini in a characterful room. Very helpful restaurant recommendations from the hotel staff. There are lots of options in terms of good restaurants in this delightful Monti neighbourhood, from which we were able to walk to the Vatican and Centro Storico. Many thanks to all at the hotel for a very enjoyable stay in Rome!

We booked this hotel through easy jet and paid £190 pp for our flights from LGW to Rome and the hotel for 3 nights. The rooms are basic, but good as a base from a good location, the Vatican is 45 mins walk, the Pantheon 30 mins and the colosseum 10 so everything is easily walking distance. The hotel provides a decent breakfast of croissants, toast, cereals, coffee, juice, yoghurts so sets you up for a goods days walking. One thing is that I would request not to have room 401 if you are having a single room, it’s right next to the lift shaft so you can hear the lift going up and down, not stupid loud but if your a light sleeper this may affect your experience! Staff were very friendly. There a good restaurant almost opposite and a cracking pizza place the next road over!

5 years ago my family stayed here when we came to Rome and we just go back from staying here again this past November. It’s not the fanciest hotel, but for the price and location, it can’t be beat. The main sites are all within walking distance. The breakfast is just as good as it was last time. I don’t have any complaints and would recommend this hotel again.

We have used this Hotel for the last 3 years: It's not "The Ritz" but it is reasonably priced, clean, very nice helpful staff, splendid contental breakfast, adequate bathroom with a very efficient shower. A convenient location too, near Santa Maria Majjorie. It's always on our list.

Seeking a moderately priced two bedded room in Monti we chose this small 4 story hotel with lift for 3 nights. On a small one way street between the Church of Perpetual Help( Redemptionorist headquarters) and St Pietro in Vinculi Church this street has a few nice restaurants and nothing much to reccommend. Drab outside this hotel. Apparently safe but not attractive. It is 10 minute walk to Termini metro and bus station and 7 minutes to metro at Emmanunali.Line 1.It took us 45-60 minutes to get to the Vatican from this hotel on the direct metro line in the morning. No bus or tram is close for connections. The landmark is Maria Majore church 5-6 minutes walk away. The staff varieed in their cheerfulness and helpfulness. One staffer ( tall with curly blond hair) bumped me over twice as he rushed about his accounting duties. He saw no woman in his way! While Gerardo(SP?) at the front desk made every effort to make our stay work. The men cleaning the rooms used strong bleach and we smelled it everywhere. The afternoon-evening front desk had no idea how to use transformers or adaptors for power use with our good equipment. We worked it out without their dull response of "I don't know how"/. Our room was cramped with 2 narrow cot/beds, a bureau, small Tv, small refrigerator. The private bath had a window above the tub which vented fresh air. But the supplies were poor. Two towel sheets the thickness of cheap dish towels were offered as bath towels. They absorbed nothing! There was shampoo in 1/2 ounce plastic package and thin slivers of soap we needed to combine to get a grip on the soap! The toilet seat was anchored wrong and slid sideways all the time and was not comfortable as it was mismatched and did not fit the toilet. WE showered as little as the hot weather allowed us to go. WE had French doors to exit to a private roof top balcony of about 200 square feet- bigger than our room. It accomodated smokers with ashtrays The breakfast included was continental with yogurt, salami slices and cereals. Boiled eggs out for the taking. No breakfast meats or cooked items. The croissants were freshly baked and the bread was the major breakfast. The juices were awful and unmentionable of what they were. No fresh fruit here. The coffee was weak and warm brown water. The internet was good and came up without problems. The selection of TV stations kept us up on world news. WE liked the restaurants on the street and had a good three nights
