This hotel is clean and nice, but the location was far from all the sight-seeing. The rooms are clean and the hotel decor is fairly modern. The bathrooms are on the small-side. Overall decent hotel, but we would probably prefer to book city-center next time because we were short on time during our stay in Rome.

We stayed here for a 3-night winter city break and were bowled over by the crisp, slick and complete refurbishment, the bright contemporary freshness of good-sized, clean rooms. The staff were without exception friendly, efficient and attentive. The Laurentina location is perfect (if not central) and simplicity itself for catching the B-line metro to Colosseo or other central stations. Laurentina is also the bus station for the 720 bus to and from Ciampino airport, so is very easy to access for carless visits. The hotel restaurant is far better than many, offering a simple, restricted menu that is useful when too exhausted to go back into town. Breakfasts here were brilliant, self-service and in those freshly updated surroundings. There are some bright and comfortable lounge areas that could - why, oh why not? - be so easy to incorporate a modest bar area for an evening drink after a meal. An incomprehensible lack - please remedy! Our room was to the rear and much the quieter for it, overlooking trees and flats; the road is ringroad noisy and fast. Some local shops are handy in this primarily business and residential area. All in all, a highly recommendable and freshly uplifting experience. Try it!

This hotel was a good distance from the music (previously sports) arena that we were visiting for a music concert (Eros Ramazoti). Unfortunately it is listed as a 4 star hotel but this is definitely not one in my opinion for various reasons. There is no tea/coffee facilities either in the room or available via reception, there is no bar that is available when the restaurant is closed, there is no room service, the reception staff have very limited English and have lack of knowledge of the area and the city. There are also no other bars or eateries nearby after a visit to a concert. The breakfast is ok - but plastic glasses nowadays!!!! This is just not environmental or 4 star!! It is a satisfactory hotel but below the standards of an English Premier Inn Hotel and just above a Travelodge Hotel. There is a lovely little bar near the train station which serves great drinks and snacks but closes at 21:00 - do visit here if you can.

Dear badmintontim, Thank you for having dedicated few moments of your time to share your review. I was sorry to learn that you were not completely pleased with our Food & Beverage services. I will of course bring all of your comments to the attention of the staff. I have indeed taken good note of your comment in regards to the services provided. Our restaurant "Le Vele" is open at lunch time everyday monday to friday from 12.30 untill 14.30 providing an excellent Open Buffet with 30 different dishes freshly made. We open now a bar, food and snacks service daily from 18.30 until 22.30 in our hotel Lobby. I will most surely discuss with the relevant department manager about your report and the lack of communication occured that caused a disservice. I sincerely hope you will choose to return to the American Palace in the near future, in order for us to provide the unforgettable experience we are renowned for. Sincerely,

Just stayed at this hotel for two nights December 2019 - booked as a special cheep deal with Weekend.com. Hotel is probably the equivalent of a nice premier inn hotel in UK - its located at the end of the one of the metro lines, five minutes walk away in a business district, so nothing touristy to do at hotel location but very handy to get on the metro line for Rome city centre. Our room was ready for us to check in lunch time although officially check is after 3pm reception staff we dealt with were all very polite, nice and accommodating with advice etc, lovely big room, big bed nice bathroom with big walk in shower, nice and clean. Our room overlooked quite a busy road but noise wasn't really an issue. We were booked in for bed and breakfast which was help yourself buffet and very good continental to set you up for the day. Only down side to this hotel was that it doesn't have a bar, you have to go out and there really wasn't that much that was open in December in the neighbourhood - if we were visiting in the summer / warmer weather I'm sure we would have stayed in city centre for the evening, but as it was quite chilly we came back to the hotel. We did find a couple of cafes that served beer and pastries open early evening. It would have been nice to sit in the hotel and have a few drinks or a coffee. There does appear to be a bar attached to the hotel but it wasn't open and reception staff said there was no bar. The restaurant was available for evening meal if you booked but they did not want anyone walking in off the street coming in as had a big chain padlocked across the front door to the pavement. The free wifi was very good at this hotel. We were able to leave our suitcases in a secure room after checking out on our last day as we were not being picked up until late afternoon.
