We enjoyed our stay here. We are not big fans of large, noisey cities, but the oasis on the hotel roof (bar and restaurant) was worth the stay, all by itself. We went up and watched the sunset every evening. The rooms are comfortable and the location is perfect for sightseeing. If you have to stay in Rome, this is...

The room (Fourth Floor) in our hotel had a great view which looked straight onto Santa Maria Maggiore and although it was at a busy roundabout we were not disturbed by the traffic. The room was relatively small but was clean and had most of the usual items you look for in a modern hotel, room-safe, nice bathroom with stand...

Very good standard. Nice rooms. Excellent location, just by S:ta Maria Maggiore, near the subway and train station. Walking distance to Forum Romanum. Breakfast was OK. Eating out in Rome is expensive but there is a small Chinese restaurant on Via Carlo Alberte. Very cheap and the best food we had in Rome!

Arrived around 5pm and were pleased to learn that we had been upgraded for a night to the Executive area a few doors down. Our first night's room was reached through a pleasant courtyard and featured a soft king bed and large and beautiful bathroom with jacuzzi jets in the tub. Well apportioned mini bar and TV offered CNN and...

This was our first visit to Italy and so our first hotel experience in Italy and we were pleased. We had a short walk from the Termini Station and it took a couple of minutes to find the hotel. We had a lovely room looking over the Piazza SantaMaria Maggiore. There is a grocery store a short walk across the...

This is a wonderful hotel, nice large rooms for a family in the courtyard adjacent to the hotel. Only draw back, is that they are below apartments, which can get noisy at night. Other then that excellent space, great staff. Check out the view from the roof top restaurant, exceptional, as was the breakfast. We will stay here again, very...

When you read some of the reviews here, you really wonder have these people never been out of their flat or hillbilly location , ever?? To their great dissapointment, I must clarify one or two things when you book a hotel: 1:there can be mixups with a booking, be this on your booking sites behalf or the hotels, but it...

After being concerned about the size of hotel rooms in Europe, I did research on the web and found that the Mecenate Palace has an adjacent/annex building (next door to the main building), which contains average size rooms (as a matter of fact, I'll say that it contains large size rooms). My husband, my teenage daughter and I stayed in...

I had booked a room a few of months in advance and prepaid on travelocity. When we tried to check in, we were told that they do not have a reservation for us, first lie. I produced the email with confirmation number and the assistant manager then told me that there was a mix up with someone with the same...

Made a reservation at a promotional 5% discounted rate. Received an email suggesting this promo rate was not available then hours later received a confirmation for the regular rate. Also . . . in my reservation request . . . I requested a room in the new section of the hotel as suggested by others and found out upon arrival...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
