Travelled as a couple - four nights in Rome. We opted for this hotel because it seemed modern and comfy, with good reviews, and a nice price. Still upon arrival we were pleasently impressed with the reception area, it looked fancier than we expected. The receptionist was extremely efficient and professional. All the staff did a great job during our...

Our stay at smooth hotel was generally good. The room was very small - just enough room to walk around the bed, and no sofa or anything like all the photos show! But to be honest we weren't there to spend time in the room - so not a huge issue. Biggest annoyance for me was the duvet was not...

Lovely, modern hotel with very helpful staff. We stayed in a spacious triple room loaded with amenities. Twinings Tea bags with milk in the mini fridge were a nice touch for the in-room hot drink service. The hotel is well-situated, with a 10 minute walk to Termini, 20-30 mins to main touristy attractions on foot, or the Castro Pretorio metro...

Great buffet breakfast included that is kept well stocked up. Grateful for air cooling which kept the room nice & cool to sleep in &...

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel and was thoroughly satisfied. I had a single room which was small but that is not unusual with European hotels. The entire hotel appears to have been updated recently with modern, sleek decor. The hotel has an elevator and the rooms have safes ( features I especially look for ). The location is...

Sadly, myself and my husband are due to leave this hotel tomorrow, having spent three nights at the Smooth Hotel in Rome Termini. We were both impressed as soon as we arrived, not only by it's location, which is both central and quiet but also by the smooth check in. Our room was upgraded and we were greeted by two...

The hotel is largely very good, parrticularly for the price. The good: location, breakfast and while the renovated fittings are fairly cheap, it looks slick. The bad: avoid the sixth floor. The noise from the generators/heating units created such loud noises that the door would shutter. Sometimes woke me several times a night. Crappy pillows.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
