This is the hotel where stories get life, so it's a beautiful place and a start to discover Rome. Every room has it's own beauty. It's the perfect place to be because you don't feel like you are in a hotel room. The only thing i didn't like was that the bar is too small and there is not a...

Dear Guest, Thank you for your nice description of our hotel! We are very glad that we exceeded your expectations! San Anselmo hotel, located on the top of the Aventine Hill, is very charming and, as you noted, each room has a different and characteristic theme. Yes the bar probably is small but perfectly able to satisfie each request of...

What a find.. vacationing in the lap of luxury.. the place oozes opulence.. The room was great, with a huge queen size bed and a massive bath, big enough for two to lie down and soak in.. perfect after a long day sight seeing.. I can't recommend it highly enough.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary, we were given a commentary bottle of prosecco which was a lovely touch. Beds are very comfortable, the pillows are amazing. Breakfast is lovely. All staff are very helpful and welcoming. There is a beautiful restaurant a few minutes walk from the hotel called Apuleius. The hotel is a 10 minute...

We were transferred to Hotel Anselmo after booking at Villa San Pio and stayed in room 833 with balcony & jacuzzi. The room was comfortable - some may find the matresses slightly hard but I find they give me an excellent nights sleep. the buffet breakfast was, as expected, excellent and the breakfast room attractive and comfortable. Staff at the...

We were staying at San Anselmo on our honeymoon trip. The service was perfect, and the hotel is lovely located in the quiet and safe Aventino Hill. It's not at the heart of Rome but if you don't mind walking 15 minutes to the Colosseum and an up-hill way back, it's a wise choice out of the city noise. The...

The hotel is in a quiet part of Rome and generally well equipped although for 4 stars you could expect a free bottle of water in the room. Breakfast not included. Personally, I find the design overdone and borderline kitsch. I prefer the Hotel San Pio in the same area and hotel group.

Dear Madam, Thank you for your review about our Boutique Hotel San Anselmo. The distinctive feature of our Boutique Hotel is to have in each room (they are standard or deluxe) its own style and personality. This has always been a great liking, but we understand very well that the tastes of our customers are subjective. About the breakfast not...

A bit out of the way, but that's exactly what I wanted. Beautifully appointed and in a beautiful location. Hotel is lovely and service is good. Rooms a little small but cannot imagine you would want to spend much time there when visiting Rome. Breakfast is nice and lovely garden to sit out in during summer. Above average 4*.

Lovely boutique hotel. Had a really nice ambience and located in quiet residential area. Stayed here for two nights on bed and breakfast basis, mid October 2016. Nice breakfast and good wifi reception in our room on second floor. Welcome drink on arrival – nice touch

Great location for the center sights. We made a short notice booking at this place as it was on offer. It proved an excellent bargain and value for money. Convenient location for access to Circus Maximus etc with good facilities in the room and a huge sunken bath in the ensuite. Room 805 if that is your thing. Not sure...

Can't give this hotel any good marks! My pet peeve? - when the porter takes you and your luggage OUT of the hotel and into the back property, things usually go south. And they did! A teeny tiny room big enough for the bed and only the bed. Not a single place to put your suitcases unless you put your...

Staying in Aventine

Neighbourhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
