The Hotel Santa Maria is an Hotel de Charme located in a 16th century cloister completely renovated in the year 2000 maintaining the flavour of the original construction. It makes a very pleasant base in a romantic and relaxing ambience. The hotel is located in an historical area of central Rome in the heart of one of the most ancient and characteristic neighbourhoods of the city, Trastevere. Our guests can easily walk from the Hotel to the historical and archaeological beauties of the city. It is also possible to drive to the hotel with the parking available at the private Garage next to the Hotel. The Hotel rooms, connected by a monastic portico, face onto an ample and silent garden of orange-trees, flowers and Mediterranean plants, or onto our rooftop garden, framed by evergreen vines... perfect settings to enjoy your breakfast in the warm and sunny roman days , or just for relaxing after a day of sightseeing The Hotel has a number of bicycles should you wish to cycle through the alleys of ancient Rome. The Hotel is Internet connected by secured Wireless Lan. You can comfortably use your PC where you like: at the lounge Bar, in the garden or in your room. If you are travelling without your PC, a computer with free Internet connection is at your disposal in the Living Room. You can relax in the romantic atmosphere of our bar or our garden with a glass of excellent wine, chosen from the selection of refined Italian wines stocked in our Cellar (from Vermentino di Gallura to Brunello di Montalcino), before you venture out into the narrow streets of Trastevere in search of a good trattoria or restaurant. After site-seeing in the ' Eternal City ' , our rooftop garden, framed by evergreen vines, with lounge chairs facing the sun, awaits you for relaxation in an ambience of refined comfort. You may refer to our Staff regarding any problems, desires, or needs you may have. Tiziana, Arianna, Chiara, Paola, Malina, Pasquale and Alessandro will always be ready and available to assist you to the best of their ability. I was visiting Rome for the first time with my mother and was glad to have chosen Hotel Santa Maria. Trastavere is perhaps the most popular area to stay in Rome for good reason. There's a great range of restaurants and bars, and the heart of the eternal city is within walking distance (although be warned, it is very easy to get lost in Rome!) The hotel staff really excel in hospitality, and genuinely care about their guests, which is a rarity. They assisted us in booking a taxi and printing our boarding passes and gave some local recommendations. Before arriving, the staff were also accommodating in guaranteeing we had the twin room for our five night stay. You do feel like you have a home away from home here. The breakfast was enjoyable, with a good selection of cold meats, pastries, fruit and yoghurts. The Filipino barista makes an excellent cappuccino. They host an evening happy hour too for guests to socialise at, which is a nice idea. The hotel courtyard is simply beautiful, especially when lit up on the evenings beneath the stars. My only real complaint about the room was the lighting was a little too dim during the day in the winter months, but most of the time you'll be sightseeing, so this is of minimal concern. There was a little noise from the neighbouring room and surrounding bars and apartments, but nothing excessive. Also, if you want state of the art decor, then stay somewhere else. The hotel is in a great location..Trastevereis is walking distance from the major attraction ( 30-35 min) but away from the traffic, congestion, crowds, noise of Rome. During the day you walk the streets near the hotel and they are quiet and empty but after 6 pm the whole place becomes alive. People, tables, bars, restaurants appear from nowhere. The hotel is centrally located in Trastevere except it is in a tiny narrow non descript alley that is somewhat hard to find. The two taxi drivers we had were not happy driving to the gate but the truth is that the gate is 20 steps from the larger alley where they could drop you off or pick you up and would have made their lives much easier. Beautiful gardens to have breakfast or a drink in the evening. Nice buffet with a good selection for breakfast. All employees are VERY nice, cheerful and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and spacious ( we had number 14).They have good AC if necessary. Very good restaurants are 5-10 minutes away. If we go back to Rome, this is the place we would stay…

Great in every way. Superb quiet location in lively Trastevere. Very nice and attentive service. Exellent breakfast, the best bread I’ve tasted in Italy. The garden with the orange trees are a gem. Within walking distance of the most important sights in Rome.

We stayed for 4 nights. Location was the main reason we booked as Trastevere is a lovely area to explore, it has plenty of restaurants and is also a short walking distance to many of the main sights.The hotel was in a quiet location with a beautiful garden. The rooms were spacious and clean. I liked that there was a bath as well as a shower. The hotel staff were exceptional - extremely helpful and friendly. They made our stay extra special. The happy hour (actually 2 hours between 5.30-7.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays in winter) with free finger food was very enjoyable and a great way to meet other guests. Breakfast buffet had a good selection. Kevin and Norman made the most amazing coffee. I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Santa Maria, it was one of the nicest small hotels I have ever stayed in and was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.…

What a lovely place. Location is Trastavere is perfect. Staff were truly exceptional all taking a special interest in us. Any problems were immediately solved. Breakfast and happy hour were lovely. Quiet peaceful location. Very comfortable room and bathroom was nice.

We were warmly welcomed to the charming hotel. The room was well thought out and had everything we needed. The garden was beautiful even in the winter. The hotel staff knew our names and greeted us each day. We will return in the future! It was a wonderful experience.

I had a lovely stay at the Hotel Santa Maria in December 2022. The accommodations were very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our morning breakfast. The courtyards are so charming. The hotel staff was wonderful!! Everyone went above and beyond my expectations. The location is near many restaurants and we could easily walk, taxi, or take a bus to popular tourist destinations. I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Santa Maria on your next visit to Rome. I know I will!

We booked Hotel Santa Maria for three nights after reading all the reviews and it did not disappoint. The grounds are lovely (just as pictured), even in winter. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the breakfast (and coffee!) were a great way to start each day (the breakfast room is lovely, too). The location in Trastavere is excellent and allowed us to explore a part of the city we had never encountered before. We found the rooms to be comfortable and well stocked with towels and plenty of room for us and our two kids. The only downside or place for improvement would be an update to rooms (decor and beds) to make them slightly more luxe to match the decor of the rest of the property. But once they do that, this gem will be a 4-star property and even harder to book!…

We have been staying at Hotel Santa Maria for 6 days, the suggestive place located in the heart of Rome offered us a beautiful stay. Lovely people, beautiful garden, exquisite breakfast included. And all of the most interesting districts of Rome accessible to walk. 1000/10 reccomend ❤️
