Returned last weekend for 3 nights after a previous stay in 2015. I can only echo the comments made in my previous review and in all of the other reviews. I would highly recommend this hotel. Great value if you book in advance direct. Excellent taxi service from and to the airport, E50. Without exception, all of the staff are...

We stayed here for Christmas and we would recommend it. The staff were very helpful and made bookings for us at some fantastic restaurants for Christmas eve and day. A minor issue was noise. The hotel is surrounded by apartments and we were woken by some people have loud arguments above our room. We are frequent travellers to rome and...

A quiet and tranquil hotel in a lovely setting; ideal for relaxing, particularly after a day exploring all that Rome has to see. The room was comfortable, clean and with an excellent shower. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Close to lots of restaurants and bars. Highly recommended and good value.

A charmin place to stay. Nice set up and ambiance. Beautiful garden even though in winter. Great service! Thank you to your staff at the reception (cant remember his name, a senior gentleman) during our arrival on the 29 January night. We were left somewhere by our taxi driver and had to drag our heavy luggage almost half an hour...

What a wonderful quiet and secluded retreat from the hustle and bustle of Rome. The Hotel Santa Maria is neatly tucked away in the Trastevere neighbourhood of Rome. The staff are all friendly and welcoming, the rooms are well appointed and comfortable and there are more great restaurants than we could possibly get around in our few days within 10...

This is a very interesting hotel, not a 5 star luxury hotel but essentially perfect for what it is and where it's at. First off it's not in the city, which is very busy and loud, great to get away from. Breakfast was adequate and included in room cost. Hotel staff was spectacular always happy, always helpful and clearly wanted...

My son and I stayed at Hotel Santa Maria for 4 nights when I was dropping him off to study in Rome for the semester. We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is located in a quiet area yet close to everything in Trastevere. There are many amazing restaurants in walking distance and we used their bikes to ride and...

I have stayed here for business and pleasure. The staff is always very professional and prepared. The rooms are super clean and furnished nicely. The location is wonderful, in the heart of trastevere, but outside the craziness. We will be back soon!

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
