What a fantastic place this is! Such lovely staff, such clean, clean rooms, and a really homely vibe. Those looking for drunken, party hostels should look elsewhere. Those looking for a friendly, comfortable and oh-so-reliable base while in Rome should book immediately.

Stayed in the 'Sweets' room for 5 night. Pleasant staff, reasonably priced breakfast. Nice clean accommodations. The staff gave good recommendations and advice, and they have some nice common areas (that I didn't use -- there's just so much to see in Rome!). The guests were all quiet and respectful too, which made it a pleasant experience. Sound will travel...

I had wanted to stay at The Beehive since I first read about over two years ago. I booked a room with private bath at The Sweets (run by The Beehive and just around the corner from the main property) and it did not disappoint. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable after a long day of sightseeing...

A cosy retreat right near the Terminali. Very walkable to the sights. We were warmly welcomed and pleased with our comfortable room and balcony. Nice to have a kitchen area and fridge, too. We especially enjoyed taking part in the family-style dinners, and the breakfasts were delicious. What fun to wake up at Easter midnight to the peal of bells....

The Beehive is about 5 minutes easy walk from Termini, Rome's main train station and also where the airport buses drop you off. I had a reservation (I recommend making one, each time I've been in Rome before this place has been full so don't count on walking in and finding space, although of course this might be possible) and...

Full of charm and everything i had expected from this quaint little place - such a hidden gem and the owners are so welcoming. My friend and i had travelled 30+ hours to arrive in Rome and all i wanted was a sleep and a shower. Well i got one of them - the shower - then we set off...

Anne, my wife and I, took the opportunity to stay here when visiting our daughter who was studying at the university nearby. It was in an ideal location for public transport and bus link to the airport. Getting into the historical centre of Rome, and the Vatican, was straightforward, either by walking or taking a bus. I could not praise...

I cannot say enough nice things about this place. I stayed here during my solo visit to Rome. I stayed in Acacia which is a few minutes walk from the main office. The place was very comfortable and there is a cafe at the main location where you can meet plenty of fellow travelers.

The staff is friendly and welcoming and I felt really at home. You can tell the owners put a lot of love into this place. The facilities are excellent and everything is clean, and it's super easy to get around. They have their own app for restaurants and cafes which they personally recommend and it led me to some absolute...

My friend and I stayed at The Beehive in December 2016 and had an absolutely wonderful stay. We had initially booked two beds in a shared room, but the staff upgraded us to a double room for free! It was much appreciated and actually exactly what we needed. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful, the location was...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
