The hotel is central, clean and well presented. Our room was large and the bathroom was lovely and very spacious. Staff were just fine and the cleaners did a good job. Despite it's relatively central location, opposite a square walking distance to the centre, it manages to be quiet. There are no drink making facilities in the room but there's...

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in November 2012. We booked this hotel based upon price, value for money and location. Location - walking distance to the city centre. In fact, besides getting a coach from the airport to the city, we did not use any other public transport whilst here. We walked all round the city. The hotel...

We were a bit wary after looking on google earth at the photos of the area, but the hotel was easy to find and found we had nothing to worry about the area. Although it looks really rough you are safe enough....The staff were very helpful and polite. The rooms were ok for the amount of stars, but the only...

This is a little gem of a hotel very near the central train station in Rome.Very well serviced by public transport---- trams, metro and buses. We were attending a wedding at the Irish college about ten minutes walk away. Our room was spotless, comfortable and well lit.The bathroom was as good as one might expect to find in "a luxury"property. The reception staff were most...

We chose this hotel for it's proximity to the train station, as well as the great price. For a 2-star hotel, this property is very well-appointed. The rooms are large, updated, with very nice bathrooms. The window shutters block out light and sound. Rooms have small, flat screen tvs. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and we...

Just returned from a 4 night break, first impressions very clean and comfortable. Our room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the courtyard and was spacious, well decorated, quiet and spotlessly clean. Also had a bath, bidet, shower etc. All staff very friendly and helpful, providing us with much appreciated pots of tea on request at the end of long...

We stayed two nights. We could have used an elevator when we first arrived, but other than that, this hotel is a great stay. Free wifi in the lobby, great rooms, clean, great service, and good breakfast. It is within blocks from the subway, walking distance to the coliseum. We enjoyed our stay there and will come back and recommend...

Lovely hotel with v clean and modern rooms, our rooms were quiet and at the back. Breakfast was good, continental style. Nothing fancy no boiled eggs, fresh fruit/fruit salad, yoghurts or cheese and meat but a nice variety of rolls, good coffee, hot chocolate, tea and orange juice. There were jams, marmalade, honey, chocolate spread. Staff were v friendly and...

This was my second time staying at Hotel Taormina, and I would stay again in the future. My mother is in a wheelchair and I needed to find a wheelchair accessible hotel in a good location that wouldn't break the bank, We had to use a secondary entrance to get into the hotel, but it wasn't a problem at all....

We stayed at the Taormina for two nights. The staff were excellent and very helpful throughout and gave us very good advice on public transport to various destinations. The hotel is in a good position and is only a 15-20 minute walk to the Colosseum/Termini station. The Metro is also nearby. The area itself doesn't have a great deal of...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
