The very well kept house is set in a wonderful garden with trees and flowers and it is close to the Historic Appia Antica Road. The apartments are furnished in a highly creative way by the ingenuity of Mrs. D'Atri. The landlords are really friendly and kind. They make you feel welcomed at home. Mr. D'Atri has a huge knowledge of the history of the places of the Ancient Rome that comes from his true passion for his home town and which he is very happy to share with his guests.

Me and my family were always dreaming to see Rome. When we really decided to visit this wonderful city, we chose to stay in Appia Antica Resort. And it was a great choice! First of all, Apia Antica Resort is located in a very quiet and peaceful place, this means that you won't have any problems with cars from the street and you can have a very nice sleep. And now about the apartment. They are really big and the layout there is very comfortable. Inside the apartment you can find every thing you could need while you are living there (I mean plates, cutlery, cups, etc) and if something is missing you can always ask for it. The apartment are always clean which I thing is one of the most important things. And the icing on the cake were the owners of this wonderful place! They helped us to cook some dishes and told us about best places we could visit in Rome. And when we knew each other better they even invited us for a dinner. And what a dinner it was! Staying in Appia Antica Resort was really a great pleasure and if we will visit Rome again (I really hope so) we will defiantly choose these apartment again!

This was our first trip to Rome. We were going away for a special trip to celebrate valentines day and my girlfriends birthday.
When we arrived at the apartment, we were given a very warm welcome with such positive hospitality.
We were extremely pleased with the Beautiful apartment and resort, giving such a home away from home feeling with an authentic and modern Italian twist.
Once we settled in, we were given an introductory talk regarding information about the local area and Rome itself including ; Public transport, best places to eat, hotspots to visit, shops and historical attractions etc.
They couldn’t have been more helpful and really helped to put us as ease being first timers in Rome.
As mentioned it was my girlfriends birthday and they helped me organise a special treat for her to arrive to which included a gorgeous cake with flowers and processo.
Overall, it was an amazing experience made even better by the overwhelming hospitality that was provided by the owner and staff who we can’t thank enough. Would highly recommend to anyone and looking forward to visiting again.

Response from Maurizio D'Atri, Proprietario at Appia Antica Resort
Responded 28 Feb 2020
Dear Gghryan, Thank you, thank you for such kind words. It is especially important for us to know that you enjoyed your stay at Appia Antica Resort. You came here with basically 3 special occasions: Valentine’s Day, your girlfriend’s birthday and for these two special occasions you trusted us with your first time in Rome. We were so happy to show you our beautiful Domus Priscilla, basically a museum of modern art such was the care my wife, Luisa, who is an expert designer, took to design and decorate it. Our apartments have all been designed with the idea to give our guests a home away from home and not just a place to sleep while you discover Rome. Paola was delighted to give you an introduction to Rome, especially since it was your first time in our city and we know that the quantity of things to see – particularly the must-dos of the first time – can be overwhelming because there is never enough time to see all there is to see. See, us, Romans through and through, are in a good position to help you plan your stay according to your time and wishes, so you can do everything you planned to do and discover as much of Rome as you can during your Roman holiday. It was especially nice for us to help you prepare the surprise for your girlfriend’s birthday and we’re even more glad that she appreciated it and that we could help make her day special. You say you can’t thank us enough for this experience, well, we can’t thank you enough for this review and really hope that you’ll come back soon, we know we’re already looking forward to it. Ave Atque Vale Maurizio – Owner

The location is what drew me here, in the heart of the lovely Via Appia Park. And then the apartment was amazingly beautiful - there's nothing else comparable nearby. The owners and staff were super-friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the area. There are countless wonderful walks nearby and they know all of them! I will be back for sure.

A place to feel good. The host Maurizio cares about you, gives advice, makes reservations, even gives rides with his car if needed etc. Fully equipped flat in a villa, bus stop before the house, wonderful surroundings, yet close to centre (by bus within 10 minutes).

Made reservation this summer for a one month stay at Appia Antica Resort, Rome. Contract signed and full amount (with extra security deposit!) was requested and charged way in advance by the owner.
Upon our arrival (after very long drive and spending hundreds of euros on travel) we were shocked by the fact that we are accommodated in an extremely dark semi-basement flat instead of the ground floor apartment we were entitled to according to the written contract.
Probably due to its position within the villa the apartment intensively smelled mouldy and musty.
When addressed these complains to the owner he „could not do anything about it”. After three restless nights, sadly, we had to return home.
As an „apology” for his deliberately misleading and clearly irresponsible behaviour, the owner did not even refund all our money. I wonder who should be covering our travel expenses wasted in vain...
Considering all the above mentioned shortcomings the fantastic reviews they have from before are a mystery and unfortunately only history.

I had the pleasure of staying at the resort back in 2014. When we planned our trip to Rome, I knew I had to come back. We are a family of 5. My husband and I travelled with our 3 children (5, 3 and 7 month old) Maurizio is the most dedicated, accommodating and helpful host. We had everything we needed for our stay. The resort is just as great if not better than 8 years ago. Comfortable, clean and practical-which is super helpful when traveling with little ones.
The grounds are beautiful and only 15 minutes away from the main sights.
I appreciate all of Maurizio’s help with arranging our stay. He’s the best!! We can’t wait to come back to Appia Antica Resort soon.

Words cannot express the charm and beauty of Maurizio’s vacation home. Our rental was fully equipped for every possible need, but the amazing part is the quality, workmanship and artwork throughout. Maurizio is an amazing host. He is warm and inviting, in addition his knowledge of Roman art and history was utterly incredible. His family’s roots snd his love for Rome gave us a tour guide experience like no other. His care and compassion is beyond anything I have experienced in all my rental travels. I highly recommend this rental home. It is close to cafes, restaurants and historical site. Close to public transportation and feels like living in a luxury hotel but so much better because it is a home. I am definitely going back. Thank you Maurizio for a magical experience and your exceptional kindness!

Upon arrival at Appia, we found that one of our large suitcases had burst and was not repairable. We were leaving early the next day to head back to the states. The owner took us with his personal car to go shopping on a Friday night. Crisis averted. Thank you!

Dear tmjddsta, Thank you for this feedback after all this time, it means a lot as to how much you enjoyed your stay in Rome and at Appia Antica Resort. Unfortunately, your stay was short, just one night, so I was happy to take away the stress of this mishap with the suitcase by accompanying you to the store and translating for you. It made solving things much quicker and you managed to have a relaxing time in Rome in the last hours before your flight back to the States. Thank you for the opportunity to help you, it was really my pleasure. It’s what we like to do here at Appia Antica Resort: help you with our knowledge of the city and passion for making your holiday perfect. We take away any crisis, taking the negativity away so that you can just relax and enjoy Rome. You’ll have to come back without as much hurry as you had last time, so you can focus on exploring Rome and in particular the beautiful area around us, the Archaeological Park of the Appian Way, where nature and history mix in way unique to Rome. We’ll be here, waiting to welcome you again… Ave Atque Vale Maurizio – Owner

We managed to spend a weekend just before the lockdown and Appia Antica Resort was the perfect place for it! Many thanks Maurizio for your very warm welcome and kind assistance. The unconventional guided tour and the nightwalk returning from the Via Appia Antica were memorable. The house and garden are absolutely lovely but it is definitely the hospitality of the owners that makes the difference.

Dear Lenore S, Thank you for your question and sorry for not having answered sooner forcing our guests to answer in our stead. As Michael H said, we can absolutely arrange a transfer from FCO: for 4 people we can have a Mercedes come pick you up for 65€ but in your case it would be too packed, so we suggest using the VAN for 85€. Thank you so much for having contacted us, we remain at your disposal for anything you might need. Kindest regards Appia Antica Resort

Dear Khristina, Thank you for having contacted us, we are happy to answer your question. It takes about an hour to get from our establishment to the port of Civitavecchia. We can arrange for a private car or VAN (it depends on the number of people and quantity of luggage) to pick you up from here and get you to the port: for a car, the cost is 185€ and for a VAN, the cost is 220€. Do not hesitate to let us know if we can be of any further assistance. We are at your complete disposal and we would be happy to have you as our guest. In the meantime, we wish you all the best. Kindest regards Appia Antica Resort
