Having spent six months in Rome I could not have stayed in a greater place. The hosts, Maurizio and Luisa, made me feel most welcome and at home from day one onwards. I was introduced to the Appia Antica Parc and its surrounding neighbourhood, given most valuable hints to ease the start in Rome soon after my arrival. Being a born Roman Maurizio shared an incredible amount of Roman history, including an introduction to some special places to visit in the city of Rome, with most valuable hints on the best museums to visit - also on colder rainy days -. All of this helped me to make the most of my stay, walking the streets of Rome on many weekends, visting the Villa D'Este in Tivoli etc. etc. I will definitely not forget the Buffalo mozarella from IL GRANATO, certainly the best I have ever had, the home-made tiramisu amongst others, and the perfect Merlot from Umbria 😋😋😋. The city of Rome can be easily reached by bus which leaves across the street or by a great walk along the VIA APPIA ANTICA, with most fascinating historic sights along the way, welcoming places to have a coffee or more. I can recommend APPIA ANTICA RESORT for both short and longer stays in Rome and will never forget the perfect appartment, the magnificent garden and its hosts😊

I had the pleasure of staying at the resort back in 2014. When we planned our trip to Rome, I knew I had to come back. We are a family of 5. My husband and I travelled with our 3 children (5, 3 and 7 month old) Maurizio is the most dedicated, accommodating and helpful host. We had everything we needed for our stay. The resort is just as great if not better than 8 years ago. Comfortable, clean and practical-which is super helpful when traveling with little ones. The grounds are beautiful and only 15 minutes away from the main sights. I appreciate all of Maurizio’s help with arranging our stay. He’s the best!! We can’t wait to come back to Appia Antica Resort soon.

A place to feel good. The host Maurizio cares about you, gives advice, makes reservations, even gives rides with his car if needed etc. Fully equipped flat in a villa, bus stop before the house, wonderful surroundings, yet close to centre (by bus within 10 minutes).

We managed to spend a weekend just before the lockdown and Appia Antica Resort was the perfect place for it! Many thanks Maurizio for your very warm welcome and kind assistance. The unconventional guided tour and the nightwalk returning from the Via Appia Antica were memorable. The house and garden are absolutely lovely but it is definitely the hospitality of the owners that makes the difference.

The very well kept house is set in a wonderful garden with trees and flowers and it is close to the Historic Appia Antica Road. The apartments are furnished in a highly creative way by the ingenuity of Mrs. D'Atri. The landlords are really friendly and kind. They make you feel welcomed at home. Mr. D'Atri has a huge knowledge of the history of the places of the Ancient Rome that comes from his true passion for his home town and which he is very happy to share with his guests.

This review is a testament to an enduring friendship that started when I was planning for my first trip to Italy almost 4 years ago. I started conversing with Maurizio regarding accommodations at the Appia Antica. While it didn't fit into our plans to stay there, we ended up spending the most amazing afternoon with Maurizio and another guest. We were treated to an awe-inspiring drive around Rome's southern region. Maurizio's extensive knowledge of the area's history is probably beyond compare. His easy friendly manner made it our most enjoyable afternoon in Rome. After we were treated to a tour of the Appia Antica which is beautiful, serene and private. What we left with was a friendship that endures over the years and across the ocean. While life in general and now our tragic world epidemic has delayed a return visit, we look forward to someday returning to share a glass of wine in the tranquil gardens with our Appia Antica friends. In the meantime, we continue to keep in touch and I wish them safety and good health during this very difficult time.

Me and my family were always dreaming to see Rome. When we really decided to visit this wonderful city, we chose to stay in Appia Antica Resort. And it was a great choice! First of all, Apia Antica Resort is located in a very quiet and peaceful place, this means that you won't have any problems with cars from the street and you can have a very nice sleep. And now about the apartment. They are really big and the layout there is very comfortable. Inside the apartment you can find every thing you could need while you are living there (I mean plates, cutlery, cups, etc) and if something is missing you can always ask for it. The apartment are always clean which I thing is one of the most important things. And the icing on the cake were the owners of this wonderful place! They helped us to cook some dishes and told us about best places we could visit in Rome. And when we knew each other better they even invited us for a dinner. And what a dinner it was! Staying in Appia Antica Resort was really a great pleasure and if we will visit Rome again (I really hope so) we will defiantly choose these apartment again!

The location is what drew me here, in the heart of the lovely Via Appia Park. And then the apartment was amazingly beautiful - there's nothing else comparable nearby. The owners and staff were super-friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the area. There are countless wonderful walks nearby and they know all of them! I will be back for sure.

This was our first trip to Rome. We were going away for a special trip to celebrate valentines day and my girlfriends birthday. When we arrived at the apartment, we were given a very warm welcome with such positive hospitality. We were extremely pleased with the Beautiful apartment and resort, giving such a home away from home feeling with an authentic and modern Italian twist. Once we settled in, we were given an introductory talk regarding information about the local area and Rome itself including ; Public transport, best places to eat, hotspots to visit, shops and historical attractions etc. They couldn’t have been more helpful and really helped to put us as ease being first timers in Rome. As mentioned it was my girlfriends birthday and they helped me organise a special treat for her to arrive to which included a gorgeous cake with flowers and processo. Overall, it was an amazing experience made even better by the overwhelming hospitality that was provided by the owner and staff who we can’t thank enough. Would highly recommend to anyone and looking forward to visiting again.

Response from Maurizio D'Atri, Proprietario at Appia Antica Resort
Responded 28 Feb 2020
Dear Gghryan, Thank you, thank you for such kind words. It is especially important for us to know that you enjoyed your stay at Appia Antica Resort. You came here with basically 3 special occasions: Valentine’s Day, your girlfriend’s birthday and for these two special occasions you trusted us with your first time in Rome. We were so happy to show you our beautiful Domus Priscilla, basically a museum of modern art such was the care my wife, Luisa, who is an expert designer, took to design and decorate it. Our apartments have all been designed with the idea to give our guests a home away from home and not just a place to sleep while you discover Rome. Paola was delighted to give you an introduction to Rome, especially since it was your first time in our city and we know that the quantity of things to see – particularly the must-dos of the first time – can be overwhelming because there is never enough time to see all there is to see. See, us, Romans through and through, are in a good position to help you plan your stay according to your time and wishes, so you can do everything you planned to do and discover as much of Rome as you can during your Roman holiday. It was especially nice for us to help you prepare the surprise for your girlfriend’s birthday and we’re even more glad that she appreciated it and that we could help make her day special. You say you can’t thank us enough for this experience, well, we can’t thank you enough for this review and really hope that you’ll come back soon, we know we’re already looking forward to it. Ave Atque Vale Maurizio – Owner

Not only is the facility amazing in itself with the large garden and the beautiful apartment but the people are great as well and they gave me lots of great recommendations: first of all the restaurants, which were authentic Italian cuisine, but also lots of places to visit, like the Appian Way with the Villa dei Quintili! They even gave me recommendations for the rest of my stay in Italy! Wait for me, I’ll be back for sure!

Response from Maurizio D'Atri, Proprietario at Appia Antica Resort
Responded 28 Feb 2020
Dear trey144, thank you for this kind feedback. We pride ourselves of being experts of Rome and love the opportunity of helping our guests plan their stay to the last detail, from transportation to amazing restaurants both nearby and in the historical centre, so that you always know where to eat – well! And avoid tourist traps. We are the roman friends you didn’t know you had but who are always at your disposal, never mind what you need, if it’s within our power, we’ll do it. The Appian Way is full of beautiful places to visit, the Villa dei Quintili is one of them, of course, and then there is, for example, the Circus of Maxentius, where the movie Ben Hur (the one from the 1950s with Charlton Heston) was filmed, in particular the famous scene of the chariot race. We gave you recommendations for this time in Rome and Italy… come back, there is so much more to see and we look forward to sharing these places with you! Ave Atque Vale Maurizio – Owner
