Ok, first off, the walls are paper thin so this impacts a lot of things. Service - this is not a place that offers service with a smile. Nothing was proactively given to us - no free wifi ticket, no map of Rome, no information on anything near the hotel. If you dont care about service then this could be...

I have just returned from a conference in Rome where I spent four nights in Hotel del Gianicolo...I loved it - a bit of luxury at an reasonable price, friendly staff, jacuzzi bath, comfortable beds and exceedingly clean. It was also very conveniently located for my conference at the American University of Rome. It is set outside of the city,...

Our room was near reception on the ground floor and therefore we were disturbed by a lot of noise first thing in the morning. Although the room was very clean the wall paper was peeling off the walls and was very shabby. We only stayed for one night and therefore did not make a complaint but if we had been...

Staying in Monteverde

Neighbourhood Profile
Monteverde
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighbourhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centrepiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the centre to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
