Hotel is clean inside with quite spacious rooms, which seems to be the main advantage. It is quite far from Termini, walking not through the best surroundings, especially at night. I had to change 3 rooms in the hotel: due to not opening windows (its impossible to stay in the dark room), lack of hot water in other rooms. No...

The hotel is in a quite bad neighbourhood. You can see drug use equipment and beer bottles on the ground, police paroles frequently, smells of garbage, and the taxi drivers recommended us (as two young women) not to walk outside after the dark. It IS very close to Termini train station, wich was what we were looking for. The hotel...

Small pitoresk hotel located near the trainstation Termini in Rome. The hotel was small and cozy, The staff very friendly but not so good with english. The room was spatious and ok standard. Fresh bathroom. Very light breakfast, coffee, white bread and jam. The area was not the nicest but it was very close to the train and metro so...

Its near the main train station (Roma Termini) whats the only positive thing if you travel with train. The streets are dirty and garbage is everywhere. Poor, homeless people and strange, dangerous faces look at you. Why dont they clean up all the dirt and garbage if millions of tourists visit this city every year. Looks like this is normal...

Sightseeing is the first priority for most people who come to Rome, so the hotel is basically a place where you can take a rest after a long and exhausting walk through the city. This place is just awesome for those who don't seek luxury conditions and prefer simplicity. If a comfortable bed, hot shower and a fresh breakfast is...

Location: exiting Roma Termini on the exit closest to the rails on the left side of Termini you can see the Radisson hotel on the left. Keep walking past the Radisson and past a small square with a theatre and you'll find the Elyse on the corner. It's about a 4 min walk from this exit but probably an 8-10...

Starting with the positives, the staff seemed friendly, the mattress was comfortable and the shower was good. Unfortunately that's about it. The location is dark, noisy, not particularly pleasant and certainly far less convenient for Termini and public transport than many other hotels. It's all pretty shabby and dated, with lots of things broken that haven't been fixed. I got...

The staff is nice and helpful. A bus station and metro is very near (3 minuts walk to the bus and a 7 to the metro) to all what you want to see in Rome. We stayed there for 4 nights and enjoyd it a lot!

We stayed at the Elyse for one night after a cruise and before our departure for home the next day. I chose it because of its proximity to Termini and a favourable price. While the map shows it is literally across the street from Termini, it is actually 3 or 4 long blocks from the main entrance. If you are...

Hotel is old and a little on the down side. Room was large and convenient to the Roma Termini train station. But it was located at a corner where all the traffic must turn, and as a result there was a lot of road noise at all hours. Easy walk to the Metro. Neighborhood looks dicey at night but it's...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
