La Casa di Amy looks nice, but we never got to see it for ourselves, since they bumped us from the hotel due to overbooking. When we arrived for our 2 night stay, as part of our honeymoon and my husband's 30th birthday, we found out that we'd be staying at another hotel a few blocks away. We chose Casa...

We stayed here one night mainly because it is only 1 1/2 blocks to the train station. The neighborhood is fine although I read a couple of reviews saying it was scarey. It is on the 3rd floor but has a lift, the room was large compared to Rome standards, modern bathroom with shower, extremely clean, a little sitting area...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
