Having just returned from staying at Kimama I've checked and checked again to make sure I booked the right place. I've re-read all the Tripadvisor comments and checked all the photos of the place, and Kimama's web site. We got the right place, paid the standard price but got a very different deal from what most people report. Our room...

We stayed in the triple room which was huge with a double bed and one single plus a big kitchen and bathroom with enormous bath tub, our own apartment. Everything was very nicely decorated and very clean. Fresh bred was left in the kitchen every day for breakfast and there was milk, juice, butter and jam in the fridge and...

Just wanted to write a quick note about my experience of Kimama in Trastevere, Rome. Wow, what a place. Perfect location, very helpful host and the apartment is just amazing. Everything was wonderful. The feel of the place, the wonderful kitchen (coffee machine, tea, biscuits and yoghurt), gorgeous bedroom and great bathroom. I have nothing at all bad to say....

we stayed here in mid september. the location was very convenient - close to the trams and the wonderful sights of the neighborhood of trastevere are a few steps away. the apartment was clean and well-stocked and comfortable. there is street noise, so bring some ear plugs - this is common in rome, so i wouldn't put this as a...

Chose Kimama for a short stay late July 2012. Both my wife and two children aged 10 & 7 loved the accomodation/location. The apartment itself was excellent and the children were delighted by the homely feel to the place. Genuine flexibility and help was on hand where needed and I would certainly hope to make a return visit one day...

I cannot say enough about the staff and stay at Kimama in Trastevere, Rome. We walked all day, each day and came home to a spotless apartment and kitchen, cozy bed and yummy breakfasts. The owner is kind, smart and an excellent reference for many solutions and the staff is charming. We stayed in both the bedroom and then in...

We stayed at Kimama with three small children. Spacious apartment with own kitchen and big bathtub. Staff very friendly and helpful (replied quickly to our e-mail inquiries ahead of our stay), and lived in the area themselves and could recommend restaurants and transportation. Go by train from Fiumicino airport to Trastevere Stazione and then take number 8 tram four-five stops...

Folks, we're speechless. Small room, even by Italian standards, windows opening into a courtyard. You have the pleasure of hearing neighbours' TVs and other noises that echo through the courtyard into your own room, along with doors slamming, bottles being dropped into a garbage/recycling area, etc, etc. Even at E 100/night it felt like the rip off of the century....

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
