Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighbourhood just
west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as
it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet
for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season,
quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its

First this is a late review - we stayed in May and just getting to writing this. The positive reviews are good. Yes- great location, beautiful "old world" luxurious decor, nice spa area. I'm wondering if when we stayed the hotel wasn't properly staffed. We were greeted with the

Response from Andrea85vst, Direttore at Villa Spalletti Trivelli
Responded 5 days ago
Dear Guest, Thank you very much. I am really sad to hear that the Villa did not match your expectations and that you did not find the overall experience satisfying. I would like to clear a few points for other travelers that might be reading your review as they can find them extremely misleading and we do not want that. You say that the hotel seemed understaffed: we have 2 staff per room… not sure how many European city centre hotels with 14 rooms have that much staff. The reason why we are never in your face is because we want to offer you an “Aristocratic home service” the same people received 100 years ago when visiting the Spalletti Trivelli family. A service that is meant to be extremely discreet & understated leaving the guest to freely enjoy the house without any hassle or questions. We can agree that not everyone will like this but almost every single guest that comes to the Villa is looking exactly for this kind of experience. They mention it as one of the best parts of the experience “feeling at home in a busy chaotic city". You say that this was the smallest Room: I am not sure what city centre hotels you usually stay in but a 25sqm entry level room is everything but small when you think that the average entry level is usually 16 to 18 sqm. If 25 sqm is not enough our suites go all the way up to 100sqm, quite a few options to choose from if you need more space. You say that wine was missing from Bar: We would like to apologize for the absence of wine from the Complimentary 24 hour self service bar. We were sure that the offer of Prosecco, whiskies, rum, vodka, gins, amaretto, bourbon, campari, martini, cognac, and various mixers and soft drinks could be enough ( and for the last 12 years it was) especially when added on to the complimentary fully stocked minibars and the complimentary roof top bar. True, it is self service, but in a home it works exactly like this. Not sure what our guests would choose between paying 25 euro for a gin and tonic fancily prepared by a barman or pouring themselves whatever they want how many times they want… if you do want a cocktail prepared for you we can happily do it for an extra charge. As far as wine is concerned we have complimentary wine tastings once a week for all of our guests and a very extensive wine list for those who wish to try the wines from the Country of Italian wines, including some excellent Barolo, Brunello and Amarone. You say the main door was closed: We are a private home. The door being closed means: Privacy, exclusiveness, and security, three things we are very proud of and our guests have always loved (probably one of the top reasons why travelers choose us). I am really sorry you had to carry your heavy suitcases up the stairs , You could have left them in the trunk for a few seconds, rung the bell and allowed one of our staff to help you right away (this is what usually happens). I would like to apologize for the coffee service in the morning as there was a misunderstanding the coffee was prepared to go and not for room service. The car not showing up did not depend on us as it was not one of our private transfers but a normal white cab that we cannot control unfortunately. I am really sorry we did not meet your expectations but on the other hand, simply judging from your words, you were looking for a completely different hotel experience from what we offer and this did not help. We are always very clear about who we are, what we do and why we do it in order to avoid this. Most of the times we succeed some we do not… I really hope you will come back to Rome one day and have a better experience in the right hotel. Best Regards, The Management

I hesitate to ever use the word "perfect," because what really is? I can tell you: Villa Spalletti Trivelli and its staff. It's a beautiful property, conveniently located in a central location, that offers first-class service and a peaceful, relaxing retreat at the end of a lon

Location is amazing. You can walk to many famous Rome’s attractions. At the same time, it is hidden in a quiet place.
Building and interior lets you to time travel back a century or more, to even better appreciate Rome. We especially appreciate quietness inside. I read a few co

The three nights we spent here were absolutely delightful. On arrival we were immediately made to feel as though we were guests of the Italian owners rather than just a fee paying room occupier. The villa is breathtakingly beautiful and our Garden Suite was the epitome of luxury.

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Spalletti immensely. You are treated like a guest in a private villa owned by a noble family (which it formerly was). The living space is generous where you can fix yourself a drink (ie. aperol spritz) and it's on the house. There is a library which i

How is the Air Conditioning - do you control your room yourself? Does it get cool enough for a stay in August?
Yes, guest controlled air conditioning and absolutely excellent. Hot weather outside no problem.

Are the hotel owners fans of AS Roma or Lazio?
don't know to be honest. its not really a football supporters venue, very private and exclusive.

what is the hotel's exact location? We cannot find Via Piacenza on our map. Thanks.
Directly in front (side) of the presidential palace is a garden square- on the opposite side of the garden. Super place to stay.

Hi, Does this hotel have 2 or 3 bedrooms? Or is it only 1 bedroom? Also how much is it per night in June or July? Thankyou
Joanna, I'm not positive, but I believe they do. The room we were in was a huge bedroom with an adjoining Living room probably with a pullout. I do know that some folks we met in courtyard one evening were traveling with their 3 High School/College age kids and I remember them saying they all had their own rooms. I think they have additional apartments in an adjacent building too. We really enjoyed it, it was a unique experience and while a bit pricey we liked the very personal service and I think we broke even on all the Prosecco we drank which is free every evening. Good luck, hope this helps.

Dear Mr La Crosse, Thank you for your request.  We kindly inform you that Villa Spalletti Trivelli does not have handicapped/wheelchair accessible or any other handicap facilities as it  is an historical residence which has been built in 1901.  Unfortunately there is no roll in showers.  Please find detailed accessibility:  Wheelchair accessibility Main entrance to Villa Spalletti Trivelli - 3 steps from street level, (Via Piacenza,4) Entrance lobby - 8 steps to reception level, breakfast room and common rooms. Villa Spalletti Trivelli building into the garden - 6 steps (narrow) Garden Suites: 3 steps to access private passage way and 3 steps to enter/exits from the main door of the Garden Suite. Villa Spalletti Garden: access is available via the carpark/driveway gate if it suits the guests. An elevator serves all floors of the Villa. I really hope this helps. Best Regards, Andrea
