Dirty, scary place. Bathrooms were very mouldy. The toilet seat was broken and literally stabs you while you sit. No reception and limited wifi. There must be a limit to how many people could go on the wifi as my partner could connect if I logged off. Would never return

We stayed in this B&B for four nights. It's super well located, just in front of San Giovanni in Laterano, one of the four Papal Major basilicas and 10 minute walk to the Colosseum. If you need to take the subway, the closest station is nearby. Our room was great, besides we only used it to sleep because Rome is...

This place is just plain scary and a joke! Air Conditioner doesn't work, rooms are filthy, and very loud place. People are very inconsiderate of whether others are sleeping, a hospital Is close by so ambulance sirens are always always on! The location is okay but never again! Rather pay a little extra and book a hotel in a better...

Nice place to stay if you need to save some bucks. It is well located and near the coliseum. Just exactly what you need if you're planning to stay a couple of days. You have to share the bathroom with other people.. Anyway, it is just fine.. Nothing much.

The hotel in an old building, is difficult to identify. Rooms clean, owner Damiano is very helpfull. Breakfast every morning fresh, but only sweet. Locality is perfect by piazza di San Giovanni in Laterano, ten minutes from metro station and nearby from Colosseum.

I think people need to consider what they're paying for when looking at budget travel, particularly on the continent. The ability to walk out and grab fresh pizza, pastries and coffee is valued much higher than material furnishings. This is by no means a chain hotel like a Premier Inn with expected standards for low cost accommodation. There is no...

We booked our stay really early and got a very good price, we decided for this BB beacuse the reviews were quite good. However our stay turned to be disappointing. The room was quite big - 2 beds, wardrobe, chest of drawers, chair, table, 2 night stands. The bed was some sort of round pull out couch, it was too...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
