Hotel's Favourite
I was in this hotel to participate in a conference in its Centre of Congress. The hotel is modern and has good facilities. The room was large, with an enormous window that was an excellent natural light.
Persons in the hotel were very friendly and available to help, immediately starting with the personnel in the reception.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel was lovely and clean, room was very spacious. Only negative about our room was the toilet didn’t flush again for around 45mins after being used, but other than that it was lovely.
It is a long walk from the centre of Rome but reception told us where to get a bus from, it’s the X30 and that will take you to near the colosseum in around 20-25mins. We used this a lot! Taxis are around 15-20euros. There is a shop nearby but be aware it shuts early. We tried to get food one night and couldn’t so ended up ordering room service. A burger with chips and a bottle of water cost 23 euros, rather pricey, so we chose not to eat at the hotel again.
There is a safe in the room which is free to use, also a fridge. The hotel had sanitiser all around and social distance markings in place. Overall it is a lovely hotel if you’re happy with the distance from central Rome.

This hotel had good space for a large group (we had 150) with plenty of room for meals, meetings, etc.
But, be advised, the location is far from the center of Rome. If you are having coaches take the group each day, it is no problem, but it is located in a very residential neighborhood. For our purpose, it was perfect. If you are a few people traveling to tour Rome, I would find a location closer to the city center.

Response from BarceloManagement, Guest Relations Manager at Precise House Mantegna Roma
Responded 11 Jan 2020
Dear Customer, We greatly appreciate the time you spent to review your recent experience in our hotel, at Barceló we always strive to exceed guests' expectations and your comments will help our teams reaching that goal. We are sorry that our location is not exactly what you were looking for in terms of proximity to the city centre. Many guests love our location because it is set away from the bustling city life, yet close enough that a short trip (10-15 minutes) takes them to many popular spots. We also have a private shuttle service to the center at a small cost of €5,00 per person per trip that can be helpful for small group of people. We are delighted to read that you found our hotel good for big groups of people and that you liked our meeting rooms and food. We hope that your experience at our establishment will create many fond memories for you to look back on. Regards, Annamaria Servi Guest Experience Manager

Great hotel, very friendly service - especially bar staff. Initial issue with room but was very promptly rectified with no questions. Shuttle service very reliable- 5euros per person into Rome and back- miles cheaper than taxi service. Rooms very clean and modern. Loved the mood lighting!! Would definitely recommend and return, thank you!

Not good experience with the breakfast room ladies . Despite i tried to explain i can pay for it at the end of check out or on the day they did not let me having breakfast because my room was without . Secondly they were rude and not polite So is the girl from reception.
The cleaning staff not knocking at the door despite the sign with “quiet “ was outside doorknob . Every morning they just made a terrible noise with the door where they have cleaning supplies stored . Not happy with my experience at this hotel . On first night someone tried to open the door at 2 am several times . The bad reviews are accurate here and google ones

+1
I stayed here for two nights to sight-see Rome and overall I found it OK and good enough value for a hotel close to Rome.
I stayed in room 341 which I found clean, large and had a very nice bathroom area. There were some drawbacks however. Firstly, the deposit safe in my room was already locked. I asked at the desk for them to open it so I could store my valuables but was told know one was available until the following day. Also, the view from the room is rather unimpressive (back of buildings) and you can tell effort is made to completely hide this by having an automatic button pressed window shutter that was already closed upon arrival. I tried to open the shutter, only for it to open less than half way up the window. So there is little prospect of getting natural light in the room. Some of the appliances did not work. The mini fridge was not working, with a sign next to it telling customers to request chilled items from reception. I can only assume they have deliberately shut them down to save on energy costs. Also one of the lamps did not work.
The hotel is a few miles from the centre of Rome, too far to walk. However, the best option is the number 714 bus into Rome that's very frequent. Go to a shop called Cartoleria (Via dei Georgofili) near the hotel that sells bus tickets for 1.50euro as the buses do not issue tickets onboard.
The restaurant is a table service, and half board gets you two courses and a drink included. I found this OK and whilst maybe a buffet would have been better for my personal use here as I felt there was a bit of waiting with table service and I was dining late each evening, I felt the quality of the food was good and it didn't fase me too much.
The breakfast arrangements were odd. I was told at reception that breakfast and dinner happened over across the way from reception, but when I stepped into a room with breakfast buffet, a member of staff told me this wasn't the 'breakfast room' (despite there being people in there having breakfast) and I was directed to an alternative 'brealfast room' on the floor below. I found the breakfast offering good. The tables are large so it felt odd being sat alone on a large table but that's their choice of arrangement.
When I enquired about opening my safe the day after, I was told at reception it would be sorted, I returned from my trip into Rome that evening to find it was still unopened.
So overall I would recommend this hotel for the price I paid given the alternative choices in the area but I would say there is room for improvement in some areas here.

We asked the hotel to send us a pickup taxi at the airport. Even after getting a confirmation email. The taxi was never arranged and had to make own arrangments. When my wife called the hotel from the airport, they said they will call her after 2mins but heard nothing back. It took 1 hour to check in 4 people at the reception. It was getting quite late and becuase of the lousy and terrible reception experience, all the restaurants were closed by then, so we went to bed hungry. There is no room service menu and really poor customer service. My wife and her freind were staying on this trip and we explicitly asked for 2 seperate single beds. This request was totaly ignored and we did not get 2 single beds.

A little out of town, but on a number of bus routes that will take you where you need to go ( just leave plenty of time if going by bus - Roman bus timetables are notoriously unreliable). The rooms are reasonable, though the air-con only worked sporadically and when it did work, it sounded like a lawnmower. If you keep the shades down in the room during the day though, it does not get that unbearably hot.
The breakfast is outstanding - the best one we had in our trip to Italy. For the price, the hotel is well worth it. Half the price of comparable hotels closer to the center.

The service was average. The first staff of the breakfast was good and cleaned everything and asked you for Coffee the rest was waiting until you almost left.
The rooms were clean. We had free parking and good WiFi.
For diner not so much choice and the "restaurant" what open was is the lobby there.

I believe there is no extra charge. As long as you are not changing your room to two queen beds.
I’m not sure as the room we had had a king size bed. I’m sure if you sent the hotel an email though they would be able to answer you directly. I emailed them myself re some questions I had and they got straight back to me. Good luck.
