The Residenza San Calisto is a small exclusive Hotel de Charme, located in the heart of Rome, just a stone's from the magnificent and picturesque square of Santa Maria in Trastevere. This boutique hotel is the result of the skillful restoration of a 17th-century building. The whole house is dominated by brick arches, wooden ceilings, artistic hand-painted frescos, and wall decorations which give to the Residenza Santa Maria an atmosphere of refined elegance. With only 6 rooms, the Residenza Santa Maria is somewhat smaller than its namesake which allows for an even greater atmosphere, notwithstanding the fact that has only recently opened it is also equipped with a high-tech environment. The large and quiet, no smoking, rooms, some of which are family rooms, are fully equipped with a private bathroom with tub and shower, A/C, telephone, mini-bar, safe, satellite flat-panel TVs, free internet connection, boiler for tea/coffee, and other amenities. Thanks to a great location, from the Residenza Santa Maria, guests can easily reach the main tourist sites like Campo de' Fiori, Navona Square, the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi's fountain, the Roman Forum, and Coliseum with just a relaxing stroll through a maze of fascinating medieval streets. The Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Square are a few minutes away. Furthermore Trastevere, apart from the beauty of its medieval narrow little streets, is filled with typical restaurants, markets, pubs, and cafes. The Residenza Santa Maria also offers services like transfer to and from the airport, private guided tours, laundry service, shiatsu massage, beauty center, babysitting service, and car and scooter hire, as well as offering free use of bikes to its personal guests. We booked this hotel many months before our trip to Rome. We had no real idea what to expect, we just picked a hotel that seemed to be in a reasonable location and in our price range. We where more than delighted with the location, close to the city and all the tourist sites with plenty of food options close by. We had booked an apartment and was more than happy with the room. The room was had a small but functional kitchen with everything required to cook meals if we wanted, A clean modern bathroom, air-conditioning and a decent size tele.. Oh. And we must not forget the helpful staff! I'm sure this will become our hotel of choice next time we go to Rome.

When you are in Rome, the eternal City, the experience to stay in a place like this one, is the experience that makes you feel Roman. The tour around, by walk, in all these little paved roads, this all these ancient houses, little bars, Romans as well as tourists enjoying drinks, makes you feel you are in the right spot.

Loved the clean simplicity of the rooms, I felt the attention to cleaning and disinfection in every little detail and felt secure for my self and my family to sleep in here.

Strongly recommend this little tiny place for your next stay in Rome

Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Staff were wonderful. They arranged for pickup at the airport since we were coming in late and that was very convenient. The 1st mins were of panic when my son realized his passport had dropped out of his pocket, likely in the van that picked us up. But long story short, the driver found the passport when we WhatsApp'd him, arranged with the hotel front desk for it to be delivered, and it was handed over to us the next morning safe and sound. We rented a 2 room apartment, which had a sitting area and kitchen and gave the 4 of us lots of room to feel comfortable. The location is wonderful in my mind, as Trastevere has lots of personality, restaurants, music, bars,..etc. If you don't mind the occasional 2-3 am voices of people going home from the bars, which not bad, my kids slept through it. It's about 20+ mins from the Vatican, about 30 mins from the Colosseum, 20 mins from Campo de Fiori,...and other sights.

The location was brilliant near loads of great bars and restaurants but off a side street so it was really quiet at night. The room was so clean on arrival and cleaned daily after that with change of fresh towels even when we didn't request it. We had limited contact with staff but anyone we did meet were really friendly. There is a door code for the front gate as well as your own room which suited us perfectly so we could come and go. The photos of the room make it look dated but we were pleasantly surprised by how much warmer and inviting it was in person. There's not much to complain about but if I had to pick something I would say the bed was a little hard for me but my friend really liked it so it is probably personal preference. When we asked for extra pillows they were put in the room that day and that definitely helped. Also the bedroom door is a little finicky, one night we thought it was closed but it popped open so I would advise giving it a hard push closed as they are older wooden doors. Overall this place is excellent value for money and we would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful little hotel located in an excellent area. The reception desk has limited hours but you can enter the building using a code. Also, they are available by phone if there are any issues. For example our door broke one night and was promptly fixed after we called for help. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels were available when requested. The hotel is not very posh and is more "homey" feeling. I gave 4 stars instead of five because there was an mildew smell to our room. Although, If I am in Rome I certainly will stay in this hotel again.

We stayed here for almost two weeks with a group of American university students. We couldn't have asked for better hospitality, and we will absolutely return. The hotel is centrally located, mere steps away from Piazza Santa Maria and the famous Bar San Calisto, but quiet and safe, with pleasant common areas and comfortable rooms. The hotel staff is wonderfully helpful and went the extra mile to make sure that everything was going well throughout our stay. They also arranged our airport transportation. Excellent communication and service from our first contact to our final receipt. Highly recommend!

We stayed a few days in this Trastevere (be sure to pronounce it as a Roman would) neighborhood hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The wi-fi worked perfectly for the duration of our stay. The staff were helpful and kind. Breakfast was included and we stopped each morning we didn't sleep in. The neighborhood is safe and friendly to all kinds of travelers. Calm by day and busy by night, always with something to do. We walked to and from the hotel whenever we wanted to go see the sights. When we did need a taxi, the hotel was able to arrange a ride for us. I would highly recommend the Hotel Residenza San Calisto for travel to Rome.

My family and I stayed at the hotel on 2 January, 2020 for 4 days. The hotel inside is extremely cosy. The room was very comfortable and nice. The location is really good. It is easy to get to the main places of interest in Rome by foot because they are not too far from the hotel. The staff was kind and helpful.

Residenza San Calisto was recommended by a friend who visits Rome frequently and we found it delightful.
Located In Trastavere but very, very quiet!
Many sights were just 15 or 20 minutes away (Pantheon, Coliseum and Roman Forum) and I loved that we could return to our rooms for a little down time and then easily walk to dinner. So many fun, good restaurants nearby-not to mention the great gelato shop right around the corner!
The staff was so helpful with suggestions, directions, arranging transport, etc.
Extremely comfortable room.
