My wife and I arrived in Bologna in July, hopefully among the first of many American guests returning to Bologna. We missed the small sign beneath the portico, and pulled over so my wife could do a recon. Soon she was back with Agostino, who helped us unload and guided me to a parking area. He also explained that while searching for the Antica Residenza we had strayed into one of the famous Italian Zones of Traffic Limitation. It seems that important information had been sent to us, but we had already left for Italy. He promised to look into getting our tag removed from the City's black list. We really enjoyed our visit, and it was great that so many of the key sights were within easy walking distance. The beds were very comfortable and the room was very large; it overlooked the street and a small church. Breakfasts were fine, and Agostino was a good source of advice. There was an impressive old-style elevator, one with cage-type doors and walls which was very Antica. I should have gotten a photo. Two of the key factors making the trip so successful were the location of our lodgings and the hospitality of our host. We also appreciated the cleanliness of the place, and the precautions taken by Agostino and the other guests. A really good restaurant nearby is Al Sangiovese; we would have gone back the next night but they were closed. We received notice of the ZTL fine yesterday. A small place to stay. Augostino is the perfect host, welcoming and willing to help with all requests relating to our stay. Location is very good, near town center, easy walk to all major sites. Breakfast is italian and excellent, fruit, croissants and yoghurt. Rooms are good, beds perfect and all the interior decor adds to make this a true experience.
We were staying in August 2020 for several days and found this a perfect location, a short walk to the centre. Agostino brings high level personal service to a traditional B&B in a great location. From our arrival when he was waiting outside to greet our taxi and help with luggage to our departure he was attentive without being intrusive. He was always available or to have a chat to improve our Italian but we never felt that we lacked privacy. In addition to the breakfast, which he adapted smoothly for some special dietary requirements ,a large assortment of fresh fruit (peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums...) was available in our room along with fresh water daily. It is a traditional style with a bit of age on some things but the room was very clean, in fact spotless and everything was cleaned every day thoroughly. We had everything available that was needed for our stay from tea and milk supplies through to cold beer in the fridge (best enjoyed on the small balcony!)…
This was a fantastic and cozy place to stay at during our city trip. It was very well located and therefore we could walk to (almost) everything in 5-10 minutes. What in our view distinguishes this place, is the warm host Agostino. A very very kind man and helpful.
We really enjoyed our time in Agostino's pensione. He was a warm welcoming host who looked after us with great kindness. My partner was unwell while we were there and he was most attentive and helpful. Our room was comfortable and well furnished; we had a generous and well equipped en suite. The pensione is also very well located. We felt very much at home there.
This is a small B and B which almost seems as if you’re staying in the host’s home. It’s not modern—know this going in, and you won’t be disappointed. The key selling point is Agostino, a charming host who will take good care of you. He loves to help his guests. He certainly took good care of me. Breakfast is Italian style, which means croissants and some panini and cheese plus yogurt. Quality is good. The facilities are spotless, but they could use some updating in a few places. Also, don’t expect to take long hot showers. The hot water supply is limited. Still, this is a lovely place to stay, mostly because of the famous Agostino.
The most important is the feeling you get from a place and well, we really felt like we were staying at a friend’s home. It is actually an old charming house converted into a B&B and the host Agostino is the heart of it, always there to satisfy everyone’s needs. Moreover the B&B is situated in one of the best parts of the old city, quiet, safe and yet very close to Piazza Maggiore and all its fuss. What more can you ask for? We definitely will stay there again if we travel again in Bologna!
Very nice place, definite 31/2 or 4. Did not understand all the 5 ratings. Place can use some TLC, breakfast was ok. Room and bed very comfortable. Very clean but worn, a little clutered. Felt a bit of an outsider. Host nice with us when alone, excluded in conversations when europeans present, such as breakfast. Asked for coffee to bring wife in bed first morning, made to feel so uncomfortable, went out for coffee second morning.
Agostino looked after us so well in his flat. There are five bedrooms in the flat with a communal sitting area. It is lovely and opens out onto a little courtyard. We were given a quiet comfortable room with a balcony. Spotlessly clean with everything you need. Even fresh fruit. It is five minutes into the centre of Bologna and we had wonderful food recommendations. Thank you.
We had a lovely long weekend in Bologna staying in this charming B&B, very much an antidote to soul-less Airbnbs. The room was full of character - in a faded-italian-glamour style - all ornate furniture and paintings - which is exactly what you want when you come to such an old city. In a purely practical sense we were also impressed - very well functioning air-conditioning, a very comfortable bed, and huge bright windows (we were in the red room). It's also very well located - very central and yet very quiet - we had no problems with street noise. As with the other commentators, the reason we were compelled to join Tripadvisor and post a review is to comment on the above-and-beyond service from host Agostino. We felt truly welcomed, were well fed with delicious fresh (and local!) food, and appreciated his infectious enthusiasm for his city. Go!…
