Just back from 6 nights in such a lovely quirky boutique hotel. Staff are so friendly and nothing is too much for them, very helpful. We booked pre covid as non refundable but they kindly allowed us to change our dates twice during covid so finally we arrived 2 +1/2 years later. A big thank you to Isabella who was delightful and nothing was too much for her and also to Julia who recommended great places & restaurants to visit, all the reception team were great. Another big thank you to the breakfast team, lovely ladies and the breakfast area theme of chickens is delightfully quirky too. The croissants so good. We stayed in a superior room for 3 nights and a standard room for the last 3 nights as we added to our original booking. Both rooms were kept very clean, sufficient towels, toiletries and a nice touch of robes & slippers and larger bathroom in the superior one. Italian rooms are reknown for being smaller in comparison to other countries but the beds were comfortable and that's all that matters. We peeped in at one of the suites, which sleeps 6 and its very nice. 5 mins walk to the station, 15 mins to the airport, 20 mins walk to the town centre. We visited 6 different places in 6 days and Bologna is a convenient base for getting everywhere. Loved Bologna and top restaurants, trains and eateries very reasonably priced. We would definitely stay here again, thank you to Isabella and all the friendly, helpful staff, it was a pleasure to stay at your hotel.…
Booked for a 1 night stay, we wanted to be close to Bologna Centrale railway station and the hotel was just perfect. Loved it’s quirkiness, very friendly & helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again. Nice wine bar next door and next door to that is Trattoria di Via Serra (seems to feature highly on blogger reviews) which we would have eaten at but had not booked ahead and no chance of a table. Ate close by at Papa Re (see separate review) we were not disappointed. Left for our onward journey wishing we could have stayed a couple more nights.
Hotel II Guercino is a comfy, quaint boutique hotel. It is very convenient to stay here because the main Bologna station is only 5 minutes on foot. That is very important when you need to travel to the nearby cities of Modena,Ferrara,Parma and Ravenna. The staff is extremely friendly and they are willing to help when you need assistance. The room was very comfortable although in medium size. It maintains a charm of the old times with color. Clean? Yes, big time. Breakfast is extra super and the kitchen staff is extremely kind. Price? I got definitely what I paid for. It can be expensive at times but that is because the demand is high for business reasons or holidays.
We stayed in hotel for two nights. Very comfortable rooms, clean and new bathroom, friendly staff and very good and tasty breakfast and coffee. I was shocked about breakfast in Italy: eggs, toasts, cheese, sausages, vegetables, jams, tasty coffee, bakery, cereal with milk. It’s very various and tasty. Thank you for this time
Booked a suite for three weeks with the hope of space, quiet, spacious bathroom, and good hotel services, good clothes storage, and an adequate breakfast. Cramped room, thin walls, no fan, poor clothes storage and small bathroom, though bath occupied another space that could have been a sitting area. Breakfast was poor with limited fruit, there was no room service, and tiny bar. Outside courtyard could be better used as a bar area with snacks. Location is good, staff pleasant. Would we go again? No.
This was a good find. The receptionist (Julia?) was the perfect example of her profession and could not be more helpful. The hotel is a bit quirky, full of bits and pieces, but with a charm. I had the optional breakfast at 9 euros, well chosen and we could look-in before deciding! The walk into town is about 20 minutes and as another reviewer said, the close-by train station is best exited not via the main entrance, but use instead the entrance on the other side which is the place to get the shuttle train to the airport. Charming. Would certainly return if visiting this nice city.
Just stayed for one night as we left for Florence the next day by train (few minutes walk from station). The hotel is quirky and we loved it. The staff were excellent and everywhere very clean. A very good sized bedroom which was very comfortable. The breakfast room is set up lovely with very attentive service , great choices and the quality was excellent. It is approx 15 mins straight walk to the main centre (buses available) - I would stay here again even if I were visiting the centre of Bologna - top marks from me and a very good price.
A short walk from the train station, this hotel is well located if, like us, you plan to take some day trips to nearby cities. We traveled to Ravenna, Parma and Ferrara and it was so easy to walk just the few blocks to the station to catch those morning trains. It is about a 20 minute walk to the heart of Bologna, but as we stayed in the city the entire day once we arrived, the walk was easy. From the outside, the hotel may seem a little off-putting at first, but as soon as you walk through the entrance gate, you enter a lovely courtyard and see how nice the hotel actually is. The desk staff was very nice, and helpful, the breakfast excellent and the accommodations very clean and comfortable. Right next door to the hotel there is little restaurant that looks very unassuming - but is is Michelin rated and, to our disappointment, we discovered that you need to make reservations a month in advance to get in!…
Barely average. I would only give it 3 stars. Rooms in front have strong cigarette smell - from the two bars right below. Rooms are basic. I’m on first floor. No elevator I could see. Staff friendly. Gym has four pieces of equipment, plus it was hot and stuffy as it’s right next to spa which was closed. Can only use spa if appts are pre booked. Located short walk from train station but not in best neighbourhood. I felt mostly safe but wouldn’t walk the two km to downtown in the dark. Wouldn’t stay here again.
Lovely little Hotel in a "lively", but quite unfashionable area. Very helpful staff and in good walking distance of city centre. Good restaurants nearby and "best sandwich ever" at Fermento just along the street.
