Several reviewers have described this hotel as "quirky" but I can't think of a better term. It's an odd assemblage of connected buildings on a side street and the distinction of what is an indoor from what is an outdoor space is quite burry. The room we stayed in has a bunch of weird corners and projections. The room size...

This is actually called a B&B, but it is really a small hotel (about 30 rooms) but only provides breakfasts and not other main meals. The staff are multi-lingual, with excellent English. They are very knowledgeable about Bologna and could not have been more friendly and helpful. There is an instant feeling of welcome and friendliness whilst staying there. The...

Loved the location, a nice 10 minute walk into the main area. Very nice friendly helpful staff. Felt quite sorry for them at breakfast as not enough tables and space. Breakfast was not the best I've had in Italy but still ok, although coffee was the worst I'd had. Good size clean room. A lot of the place though does...

First time tourist in Bologna. I didn't know what to expect but we were soon finding our way through the elegant historic streets and porticos of this medium sized city. The hotel was also elegant, a little worn, but not in any way detracting from its strengths - great location, quiet as quiet, clean, comfortable, - pleasant, helpful staff and...

The location of the hotel, probably 10 mins walk from the main centre of Bologna is an ideal place to locate to tour the city. We spent three nights in this hotel and they were all very comfortable. There are two very good restaurants within the local vicinity, within literally 100 yards of the hotel and we went to la...

A very cosy hotel, with nice rooms and an excellent breakfast. Small yard inbetween hotel houses - in January too cold to sit outside som here breakfast was served in a kind of a 'glass-house' - in summer it must be nice to sit outside. Helpful and nice staff. Walking distance to most of the things to see and do...

Anyone can see from our last review of Porta San Mamolo how much we loved it when we visited in December last year, which is why we decided to come back. We booked a room in January, requesting the same garden room as last time and our request was granted and confirmed by email (or so we thought). However, when...

My wife and I stayed here 27 March for 3 nights, excellent hotel 10min from centre. The staff were very very helpful , room clean and bright, breakfast far better than a lot of hotels we have stayed at. Would recommend this to all.

We would like to thank the Porta San Mamolo staff for the wonderful stay in the hotel. Great location. The room exceeded our expectations. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The courtyard with eating-house is simply a gem. Hope to come back some time in the future. Would definitely recommend to our friends.
