Me and my friend stayed here for 2 nights and we had a very good time. The location is quite accesible, near public transport. Very good facilites and helpful staff. The restaurant had great food, especially for breakfast.
Unfortunately, in Italy hotels are often worth one star less than their official ratings compared to other European countries. Thus 4-stars hotels are often barely worth 3-stars, and so on. This is clearly not the case with the Hotel Savoia Regency in Bologna. Everything there is top-notch and well-managed. The staff is flexible and efficient. The rooms are lovely and well-maintained. Despite being in suburbs, the gardens and the pool gives you the feeling of being in the middle of nature. For the breakfast, due to the pandemic going on, hotels have typically struggled to organize things in a safe way. Well, the Hotel Savoia Regency has the best pandemic-proof breakfast organisation I have seen in the dozen hotels I have been in during this summer. There is a queue only for things that need interactions with a waiter, while the more mundane things like coffee machine or orange juice remain freely available in self-service. The restaurant of the hotel is also fantastic, a great opportunity to delve into top Italian cooking. …
We had a bit too big expectations because of the good reviews I guess. Stuff was professional, some of them were also really nice, like the young guy working at the swimming pool. Hotel is also pretty nice, they have a big swimming pool. I'm vegan, and the breakfast was a disappointment. There were some ready-made fruit salads, and not-animal milk, but very little vegetables. When I asked about vegan options, they were confused and give me gluten-free bread(?). A bit later I went into the restaurant to buy something to eat. The lady on the doors was kind of rude with no reason. She stopped me by stepping on my way with a strong gesture and asks me "This is the restaurant! What do you want?" I was too surprised to ask her was is her problem, It was humiliating.
I wanted a quick break for the weekend and booked a Junior Suite for a very reasonable price. I arrived early and spent a lovely couple of hours by the excellent pool which was very well set up for CV19 and, crucially, there was NO MUSIC blasting out which meant peace for those who wanted it whilst others listened to their own devices. If only more hotels did this. When I went to check-in I had been upgraded to the Gold Suite which was huge and had a terrace with a jacuzzi. It was fabulous. I had truffled lamb chops for dinner which I really enjoyed, there was plentiful hot and cold food for breakfast and I had a thoroughly enjoyable time at this well run, safely organised hotel. In fact, I enjoyed myself so much that I`m going back next weekend.
We stayed for four nights whilst visiting Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna region. We wanted a luxurious experience and good surroundings, this hotel met both criteria. The hotel is situated not far outside Bologna in it's own grounds and is well maintained and clean. The staff were generally welcoming and pleasant throughout our stay. We chose a double room with balcony overlooking the front of the property. The room was comfortable and had a nice view. The pool was nice although a little busy sometimes and adjacent bar and breakfast room area very attractive. Breakfast was good and servers helpful. Recommend this hotel, the price was inexpensive and we would definitely stay again.
