I Portici was my base again for a recent stay while in Bologna and booked a superior room on this occasion which was so much more spacious than the standard room which I stayed in last time. The location of the hotel is second to none, it’s near the station and walking distance to everything. There is sanitizer everywhere and limits on the number of people using the lift so you feel covid secure and safe. Checking in was pretty quick and allocated room on the 3rd floor, there are so many elevators in the hotel , the one nearest the entrance seemed to be the best . Room was a good size, very high cellings made it extra spacious, there was a desk area with 2 chairs, kettle to make tea & coffee and a mini bar with the usual snacks and drinks for sale. Wardrobe was the new free standing style, ie just hangers and a rail with a few shelves, fine for a long weekend. Wifi worked very well and was free. Bed was clean and comfortable, everything was immaculate. Bathroom was perfectly fine, nice selection of toiletries as well as soap dispenser on the wall. There was also an outside terrace which was a nice treat overlooking the park, it was a great spot for a glass of wine before heading out for the night. I forgot to use my welcome drink voucher which they gave me at check in , I only remembered it on the trip home The staff were all very good, happy to help when I arrived early leaving the bags and again when checking out . They spoke very good English as well as other languages too I’m sure , very happy and helpful. The map from the front desk was very useful and a handy size to fold away. Breakfast was not included in my rate this time but there are many places nearby including the hotel café where you can easily get coffee and croissants at a good price otherwise it was €14 each if you added it on to your bill to eat in the hotel. It’s a great choice for the first time traveler or returning visitor to the city.…
Stayed here for 3 nights and found the room to be nice and clean with very tall ceilings which was unique! Location was great especially if you arrive by train about a 5-10 minute walk from the Bologna centrale and about 10–15 minutes to the centre to see the main sights. The only thing that let the hotel down was the constant banging of doors at all hours it shook the room every time.
Just a short note to all travelers- do not have breakfast here! Old frozen pastries, tiny almost shot size glasses of fresh orange juice (4Euros) and cold coffee. Me and my boyfriend live in Bologna and we were always passing by this place, and the other day we spontaneously decided to stop and have breakfast here. Worst decision ever! Beware and avoid at all costs! Way better breakfast options are available at much lower cost in the same street.
The room was extremely poor!!! I never experienced such a poor room in a 4 star. No wardrobe, No space to go around your bed, No tiles in the floor but a kind of concrete!!!! Television is not working!
If there is one thing to be said as a b-moll, then that it is a bit too far from the city center (albeit very convenient if traveling by train). The room was lovely, the staff very friendly. Everything was spotlessly clean.
