From the time we made the booking over the phone we felt this was the right HOTEL for us. The rooms where clean and beautifully decorated. The staff where friendly and helpful. We looked forward every morning to the express buffet which was excellent and always welcomed by the friendly staff especially Valentine. Will we definitely choose this hotel for our next visit.

Nice rooms, hotel situated in the center, of walking distance to the beautiful central plaza (which is awesome by night!). Rooms are clean, nicely furnished, excellent bathroom, wooden floor in bedroom, nice (and clean) curtains. Good bed Breakfast is very good, a high variety of fresh fruits, pastries, bread, etc. Just all you need!

We liked this hotel a lot. Our room was fairly small but the bathroom was spacious and elegant. The reception staff were all very friendly, polite and spoke good English. The breakfast was nice, albeit in a rather crammed area. One thing we did not like is being charged 16 euros for parking to leave our car in the shopping centre car park next door (which appeared to be free anyway on that day, as it was a Sunday). This is a small and very difficult to navigate (if you have a big car) car park. It's however very convenient as it's literally next door to the hotel, but 16 euros for a space there felt a bit steep.

This hotel was really nice, just not amazing. I felt it was a little far from everything we wound up doing. Can't even count how many times we walked down Corso Italia toward the Piazza Unita d'Italia on our way to dinner or gelato or a museum. That's 20 minutes each way, and it's through an area that's kind of rundown and desolate. I was very disappointed with the air conditioning. No matter what I set the thermostat on, the room remained at 24.5*. When I asked the man at the front desk on our first night if there was a problem, he told me to wait a little while longer and it would cool down. Of course it never did. But when I told the new desk crew in the morning, they quickly put a fan in our room. That really helped, and our second night was much more comfortable. …

We did not enjoy our stay at all. The reception staff was not just unhelpful but rude. The air con in our room did not work properly, so the receptionist brought a fan to our room. When entering the room she did not even say hello, even though we have not seen her before. The parking garage is a pure nightmare. I was not able to enter the garage with my car, which is not big (Audi Q3). Furthermore, the garage is inhabited by a bunch of pigeons. Accordingly, it is filthy and very dirty. I finally found a taxi driver who offered to park my car, whom I had to pay, of course. Nevertheless, the receptionist charged me a fee of 10€ for the parking garage. I have booked a room with a balcony. The balcony is so small it does not even offer enough room for two people to stand. While…

Response from VictoriaTrieste, Responsabile relazioni con la clientela at Victoria Hotel Letterario

Dear Gloria W, sometimes it happens that a Guest choose us but we are not made one for the other. We would never want that yet this is the case. There are kind of thousands reviews stating the kindness and human disposition of our Staff. Yet for you we are not enough. My collegue made you a discount on the 16 euro rate for the garage, yet is seen as not enough. Audi Q3s normally park there without problems, but if you couldn't, you shall have opted for the other garage that was suggested to you, since there are 3 available around the hotel. I'm sorry that our balconies are kind of French balconies which are only apt for smokers, they are not terrace. We do all we can to try to satisfy your requests and desires, and to fix any problem, yet sometimes it's impossible to accomplish it, like in this case. My apologies for not being the good match we both hoped for. Daniela Corazza

This is a wonderful hotel & very central. My room though facing the street was quiet. The breakfast was sumptuous. I had mentioned to someone that coffee in Trieste tasted better than in other cities and she quickly mentioned”Illy”. Vanessa & all the other front desk advisers were most helpful & friendly from guiding me to the operetta at the Teatro Verdi, buses to Miramare or restaurant recommendations. I loved that my room was littered with books related to the city. My only regret was arriving in a weekend when tours to Ljubljana were non-existent. But after eating my way through Emilia Romagna, Trieste & the ocean was a breath of fresh air .

We wanted a city break visit with friends to an area of Italy which we had not visited. When we arrived we were able to park easy. Checkin and out was painless. The breakfast was excellent. The location was very central and easy access to the port and restaurants. The fish restaurants were excellent.

Real gem of a hotel and in a good location for an easy walk to the seafront and the main areas. Almost missed it as the signage not prominent but when you get it you find the old school charm with the modern amenities. Breakfast was included which was a nice surprise (god I love Italian coffee) and the rooms were really well appointed. Parking was a but weird - shared with a Supermarket but it worked fine! Really helpful staff and just a lovely place to stay on the trip.

We had an expensive room for two, which was as dark as in winter evenings even though it was the brightest days of summer. breakfast was boring, non existent for people who cannot eat gluten or eat vegetarian/vegan. wellness space wasn't useable - but we did not get any special offer, fitness "room" was a chamber without ac, minibar only with one drink of a kind - even though we were two persons, had a dirty towel in the bathroom.
