So this hotel is exactly what you would expect from a Grand old hotel. I'm not going to go through a list of what it had and did not have. But very friendly staff and helpful. My big thing is staying at places that you actually remember, this is that kind of place. Sure, it may need some tlc here or there, but what hotel doesn't. Give me a totally unique place like this over brand new generic anyday. I would be remiss if I didn't also mention one factor that made this stay so great. Did I mention it was in Trieste! WOW, holy C---, what a great town. I was not expecting that, we went all over, Venice, Opatija, Dubrovnik, all good places, but Trieste is an absolute hidden gem, already planning my return:-)
Stayed here after a last minute trip to Trieste and ended up staying an extra night we liked it so much. Turned up in Trieste with no reservation however the staff at the Savoia were extremely helpful offering a number of rooms and budgets. Parking was easy with no issues (valet parking EUR39 per day). The room for a city hotel was spacious and luxurious. Bed was queen size and very comfortable. Illy coffee machine although only once regular and one decafe capsule. The highlight was the balcony directly opposite the cruise ship terminal. Big balcony with table and chairs - perfect for enjoying breakfast and coffee - although the seagulls show no fear and are too quick to nab a croissant or two ! After checking out we took a boat to Muggia and it rained heavily. The staff allowed us to use the changing rooms in the gym to dry off and change. Although not the cheapest location in Trieste - I would recommend stretching if you can - you won't be disappointed.…
Used to be 5-star hotel, now 4-star hotel at best. Savoia used to be one of the best hotels in the area, but my last stay was really disappointing. The hotel is still beautiful, but the service went from top class to terrible. Especially service at the breakfast is non existent, we had to call them to the table, clean our table by ourselves, also the breakfast is really poor, every day the same, no a-la-cart menu, to sum up maybe the worst breakfast I ever had in a 5-star hotel. What to say about the room, I stayed in every room they have, but the room I had this weekend was really tired, the floor was dirty, the furniture damaged…. Used to be my favourite hotel, with special place in my heart, now I am really disappointed and do not know if I will come back.
I just completed a stay at the hotel. It is a grande dame in need of another shot of Botox. The good: The room was really a suite, with a sitting area and a sleeping area. The TV was excellent, the bed linens were nice. The bad: No washcloths in the room. No after shampoo conditioner in the room. The towels were threadbare. Breakfast was good with exceptions. Excellent juices, fruits, selection of breads, jams, etc. There were many sliced meats which I did not try. The cooked bacon was inconsistent. One morning, it was perfect. The other two mornings, it was quieter undercooked. Would I stay where again? Maybe, but I’d check out some other hotels, too.
Stayed here for one night and thought it was pleasant. The service was good at reception and the room upgrade was good to a bigger room overlooking the port. The room was a good size and so was the bathroom. We didn’t have much time to sample the restaurant or other amenities like the gym so have not got not much to say on that. The breakfast was good. All thing I think that would make this a truly a good five star hotel would if we could have had a turn down in the room as we found the one bottle of water not enough between us. Otherwise we will come back for sure when next in Trieste
The Trieste Savoy Hotel has a beautiful, old-world charm. The rooms had luxurious details and furnishings, and we had one of the biggest, most decadent bathtubs I have seen in Europe or elsewhere. The lobby offered a charming bar and several seating areas. I highly recommend the full, self-serve breakfast--just what we needed to fill up before a long day of sightseeing.
We stayed one night 19-30 of August 2022, hotel was very-very good. But we have one issue. We left a car to hotel to park it (29€). After we pick up a car next day found the trails of a dog in our car today. The lady from reception didn’t know what to say.
This hotel is a pearl! Perfect design, decoration, service and an incredible breakfast in an amazing spot, with great views. We have been enjoying the superior room with sea view, and the quiet atmosphere together with the quality of the rooms made our stay memorable. Close to the hotel, many great restaurants and walking distance from top attractions. Highly recommendable!
Not much to write here. Nice staff, great room, great location. Breakfast was good too. Lots to choose from. Didn’t have lunch or dinner as I was on business so had to cater for all. I chose a superior room not beach facing but at the side of the hotel still had a view if I looked out of the window.
Check in was a disaster. I was left outside the front of the hotel with my luggage for a good 15 minutes upon arrival. This was despite notifying staff that I’d like to check in but needed help with my cases. When the porter (who I asked for help) did arrive with a luggage trolley, he passed me without any acknowledgment and went straight to help a couple WHO JUST ARRIVED in their Range Rover. Within seconds of their arrival. Truly disgusting. When I eventually did get help with my luggage, my cases were left outside on the luggage trolley unattended for some time. When they were brought into the reception area up a ramp, one of my bags fell off the trolley and some of its contents rolled down the street. The staff just watched this happen, placed the items back in the bag and didn’t even apologise to me as they passed or acknowledge what had happened in the slightest. On the whole, the staff at the hotel were miserable and rude. The male receptionist especially, who went as far as to outright refuse to give us any restaurant recommendations. A smile would’ve been nice too now that I think about it. When I made my way up to the room, I noticed that the floor that I was on was probably reserved for conferences most of the time. The fact that these conference rooms were left open indicated to me that there is absolutely no shape to this hotel. The hotel also generally felt empty and the open conference rooms on my floor added to this feeling a great deal. The room itself was good. Spacious and the balcony with its view of the port was awesome. However, I’ll note a few issues I had with the room. There was no water in the room which after a long journey on the train, was sorely needed. Now that I think about it, water really should’ve been offered upon check in. Another failing of the reception area. There was also an empty box of tissues in the bathroom and there was no toilet paper. Careless. I also requested more towels and having waited an hour, nothing. I called again and asked for 4 towels. I received 3 and 2 were dirty. Really poor. Breakfast was nothing to write home about either. The only thing of note that I could say really is that the tea was terrible. Additionally, at check out we were charged for drinks at breakfast that we didn’t order or receive. The receptionist that morning was adamant that we had received these drinks. I have to say that the only kind and polite member of staff had to be the barman. Potentially good hotel with no shape whatsoever.…
