We reached Monastery by bike, stumbled across it really, cycling from Levanto. This was an exhilarating ride, on a relatively traffic free road. We were rewarded with stunning views and the most peaceful, shaded grounds in which to spend some time resting and sit meditatively. The chapel is beautiful and the statue of Our Lady is different to the more... More

Loved this place. Freshly renovated bathrooms and rooms, although a little on the small side. Lovely owners. Breakfast provided and water free of charge in the fridge in the rooms. A fair way out of town, but there are buses but they stop at 7:30om. Very relaxing stay.

We took the bus to reach the hilltop then spent the 45 min visiting the church and attached monastery - the restaurant is quaint but good value for money. The walk back down the 509 walking path to the old town of Monterosso offers a great insight into the local flora. Bring comfortable shoes and be in a good level... More

To walk to di soviore is fairly strenuous and anyone with walking difficulties would be advised to consider this climb very carefully. We, two reasonably fit mature couples took the best part of two hours to reach the site. The track is rough in places and it is a steady climb. The track is not particularly narrow so passing fellow... More

We hiked up from Monterosso after being assured that the hike was an easy forty-five minutes. Uh huh, not so much. We were weary and exhausted and cranky and hot. Then we discovered this church. I love the churches in Europe and always go in, say a prayer and light a candle for loved ones. If you can see in... More

I read many reviews of people disappointed by this place: rooms to be renovated, no TV, nothing to do after dinner…as far I’m concerned, I found what I expected: a perfect starting point for the paths that lead to Levanto, Monterosso or Vernazza. You can reach the place by car and park right in front of the sanctuary free; by... More

Actually this is a monastery which also rents out rooms and has a restaurant, and that is not something we knew when we booked. What attracted us was the beautiful location in the littoral hills with fantastic seaside views above the Cinque Terre villages, and the fact that our agriturismo (quite close) had a package price for a three course... We stayed at the Monastery from August 12 to the 16, 2010 while visiting Cinque Terre. Having a car is a great help to move around the region and free parking is available however the Monastery does have a shuttle service down to Monterosso al mare, in the morning and late afternoon. The Moanastery sits 520mt above sea level and... More

It would be misleading to describe the Sanctuario as a hotel in the usual sense. They provide basic clean accommodation for large numbers of people visiting this place of pilgrimage to Our Lady. The Sanctuario also attracts walkers from all over the world and there are numerous walking routes in the area. They also provide good food for the large... More

This convent is situated high above Monterosso, offering a fabulous view of the Mediterranean. The price was very reasonable, at 85 euros ($170 USD) per night plus 43 euros ($86 USD) in booking fees through monasterystays.com. But the plusses pretty much end there. We arrived expecting to be picked up at the train station. Fortunately, the locals informed us that... More
