Let me start by saying that I've been to Lake Como a few times. This was my first time staying in Varenna, and my first time staying at a B&B.
Varenna was the first stop on our Italian trip in 2016 and I was blown...More
We spent two nights in the la terrazza lake view room. The views from Casa Stacy are incredible! We loved the lake view from the bed and balcony in the room and ate breakfast on the roof terrace both mornings of our stay. Stefano met...More
Varenna is a lovely tourist town with a fishing history. Stacy’s lakefront hideaway is a sweet little flat situated above a gelato store. Right on the water the apartment is in well-equipped and affordable, and a ten minute walk from the train station (if you...More
We arrived in Varenna from Menaggio by ferry and were met by Sonia who walked us around the lake edge footpath to where our room was just a few doors up a steep cobblestone laneway. It seemed to take forever dragging our cases through summer...More

Thanks for your response, and I am sorry you found Varenna "hyperbole", as most reviewers indicate that my site does not do Varenna justice. To each his own, and I am happy your review puts a real perspective into the mix -- it helps others....More
We were two couples visiting Italy, and Varenna was our first stop after flying into Milan. It was the middle of February, and after communicating with Stacy several times prior to our arrival, I was nervous that our visit wasn't going to amount to much,...More

About a ten minute walk. The taxi driver the train station encouraged us. Taxi fare was 10 euro. This was to the square where the main Casa Stacy building is. The lakeside apartment, where we stayed, is another 2 or 3 minute walk. We opted for a taxi on the return to the station, as there's a good size hill involved.

Hi. Even though Varenna is a small town, I really think that the train station is too far to walk. When we got off the train, we just walked around to the front of the train station and there were a few taxis that wait there for clients. Darn it, I just threw away Lorenna's card. She was a local taxi driver and we called her to schedule a pick up to return as well. It's not expensive and well worth it. They will drop you in the central Plaza Giorgio and then some steps down towards the lake and you are at the Villa. Sonia was there to meet us at the small plaza. She and Giorgio are a lovely couple and see to the guests for Stacy if she is not available. The best restaurants are literally just a very short walk away like 2 or 3 minutes. Try to book in advance as they are small and usually booked. Take the ferry to Bellagio and enjoy the shops and lunch on the Lake. Ciao
