The restaurant is exceptionally good and well managed by Carmelo who is very friendly and very professional. The food is excellent. However, the rooms have little sound insulation which means I didn't sleep much in my 2 week stay. I have stayed in the Milsn building previously which was better but this time I was moved to the Speranza.

Such a pitty. Hotel on the street yet old style is nice. During the night in the near bars, people singing until after 3 a.m. 4 stars and no one that is able to stop them? Or no one is there? People were kind yet during 2 days no one looked the manager.

The location is excellent, both for the lake and the town. The staff were all friendly and professional, with a good command of English. Our room and all of the public areas are well decorated, bright and clean. My only negatives were that the continental breakfast, although plentiful, was a little underwhelming (although I'm not sure what else I could expect). We also had a double bed made from two singles pushed together which was an issue one night. Having said that, we would be happy to stay there again.

Rather than the main building, I was given a room in the building immediately next door, which isn't an issue in terms of location, but it lacked the character of the main building. It felt like an annexe, from the entrance past the service area, to the large unused dining room on the first floor immediately opposite the bedrooms. Seems to be set up to cater for large groups, which changes the dynamic of the building/hotel somewhat. The room was perfectly comfortable if a little lacking in things. No mini bar, which would be welcome in the summer months for cooling drinks. No information folder. The aircon was a puzzle, solved when I called Reception, who switched it on from there. The main issue I had was the lack of soundproofing. I could hear someone blowing their nose from one direction, and chatting quietly from another. And drawers being opened and closed in the room above. At 1 am and then 6 am it's a bit intrusive. Disappointed on checking out not to be asked if I had enjoyed my stay. It was transactional rather than personal. Wouldn't stay there again.

In 2016 we looked for a hotel in Stresa for a group booking for 2017. This hotel looked perfect. We spoke with a lovely lady, Simona, and made a booking for a group of 40. We had a perfect week. We returned in 2018 (45 people) and another wonderful week. We planned for 2020 but Covid and travel restrictions prevented our going. In August 2022 we were able to return, over 40 wanting to come but reduced to 29 because of illness. We would recommend the hotel in every way for individuals and small or large groups. The lakeside position is ideal, the hotel beautifully maintained, delightful dining and breakfast rooms, service and kitchen excellent, rooms spotless and reception always gracious. The staff are like welcoming friends, help us feel completely at home and know how sincerely we appreciate them. Lake Maggiore is very beautiful. To stay at such a good hotel and be looked after by so good a staff who are our friends - we could not ask for more.

This isn’t a 5 star hotel, but you are also not paying for 5*. I booked it at fairly short notice, with little choice, and didn’t really know what to expect. The hotel is very traditional but that is also part of the charm. We had a lake view room which I would recommend. We were half board, not normal for us, but the food was good. 3 courses each evening was too much for us but plenty of choice and a great dessert trolley. Raafa and his staff - Daniela, Diana, Michel, Steven and all the staff in the restaurant were friendly, professional, warm and super efficient. It was traditional silver service, quite unique these days. The hotel was spotless. The location was superb and you could use the pool facilities of the sister hotel, Regina Palace. It was peak season so getting access to beds around the pool wasn’t always easy but not a big feature of our holiday in any event. We booked via Ingham’s Lakes and Mountains and they could not have been more helpful or attentive, without being intrusive. This was our first visit to Lake Maggiore but will not be our last. Loved it.

The hotel is split between 2 buildings. The room had ac and was spacious but only average in terms of decor and finish, it was a bit dated and tired but spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent, there was just nothing they could really have improved. The real benefit, apart from the hotels’s location, almost opposite the ferry terminal and right in the heart of the shops and restaurants area, was the use of the pool facilities of the Regina Palace hotel, just 5 minutes walk away. We had lunch in the grounds of the Regina Palace hotel, a salad and a club sandwich with cold beers. Delicious food served quickly and efficiently.

I have stayed at this hotel several times, which is a recommendation in itself. The friendly staff are all welcoming, polite and helpful. The location on the lakeside in Stresa is excellent…. directly opposite the boat station and yet within the pedestrianised area of the town for safe strolling round the charming streets, with typical Italian shops and cafes…….and of course the ice cream shops!! Always a joy to return to this excellent hotel.

We have just returned from a week long break at the Milan au Lac (there are two hotels next to one another) and we cannot recommend the hotel and especially its staff highly enough. The hotel itself is sat on the road opposite the bay, in the centre of Stresa. It is a traditional hotel with lovely ornate decorations and traditional decor. Although being in the centre, in the rooms it is very quiet and you won’t be disturbed at all by the boats in front of you or the square with shops and restaurants behind. Only thing we heard in our room was the church bells, waking us nicely at 8am ready for breakfast. However, the main selling point of this wonderful little gem is its staff. Every single member of staff went above and beyond to make our holiday special. Reception staff were so friendly and happy to help with any inquiry. Cleaning staff were very efficient and everything was spotless during our stay, with fresh towels every day. It was the hotel restaurant staff who really won us over though! We stayed half board and we had a delicious breakfast and three course dinner every night. Raffa the restaurant manager was exceptional, he ensured (as a vegetarian) I could have a different tasty meal each night - giving me a wide range of options off of the set menu each time (he basically told me I could have what I wanted). Natalia our waitress was so kind and bubbly and made our dining experience a real pleasure every night. Also, Michele made us giggle with his joyful personality. My partner had food off of the set menu each night, which had around 5 starter 5 main course options which changed every day. We have been to lots of restaurants in Italy over the years and he said the food was delicious and the ravioli was some of the best he had ever had. Some parts of the hotel are a little dated, and the building itself is very different from the grand Villa style hotels around the area. However, the experience we had I feel more than made up for the little tweaks I imagine the hotel will make in time. Additionally, even though it is missing a pool and outside grounds, you can get a pass from reception with allows you to use the Regina Palace facilities (which is a must in a heat wave). Honestly had the most wonderful time at the Milan, and if you are unsure whether it is the right place for you then use this review to give you the sign you need to go ahead and book now!

Recently spent a week here in Lake Maggiore. I would highly recommend this Hotel. Its location is central to all amenities. Our room was clean and spacious. The balcony had a lake view and was ideal for people watching. We enjoyed the continental breakfast each morning, there was plenty of choose at the breakfast buffet. The staff were a credit to the hotel always polite and professional.
