We have just completed a one week stay here, and could not have been more delighted with our choice of hotel. As other reviewers have remarked, the proprietor is the epitome of the warm host, never failing in his friendliness and helpfulness; he speaks very good English, and proved a mine of information about the locality. The location of La...

Hotel La Fontana in Stresa on Lago Maggiore feels like our home away from home. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, not pretentious. The morning breakfast buffet is wonderful and even include homemade pastries. Proprietor Guiseppe Andreis is easy to communicate with (we only speak English). He provides excellent customer service and is a great source of information about the...

No way is this a 3 star hotel. Problems: no English at desk, room extremely small, no place to put anything, no control of room temperature (woman at desk had to call someone to come turn off the heat) when asked about a station in English, once again someone was called and turned on CNN but there were only commercials...

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in Sept. The hotel is a 10 min walk to centre of town, along the beautiful promenade beside the lake and opposite fabulous looking hotels. It’s a family run old style hotel, with plenty of parking. The room had old style furnishing everywhere, is spacious and clean. We had a lovely...

We stayed two nights and were thoroughly charmed by the hotel owner/team and the warm welcome, helpful assistance we were given re directions, boat options to islands, restaurants etc. We had adjacent rooms and had gorgeous lake views. One room had a shower, the other had a two step shower over tub. Vintage is a good way to describe the...

We only stayed here one night but would thoroughly recommend. We were travelling by train - it was an easy walk from the station and conveniently located for the town centre and lakeside. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff charming. The owner, in particular, was warm and welcoming.

Because of the information from the hotel, we arrived early enough to visit the Borromees islands. The hotel is located near those beautiful hotels facing the lake. It is not as impressive as those, but it had a nice garden and fountain. We stayed for one night and had room number 33, with a huge terrace facing the lake. The...

We stayed there for a few nights. I would say it is an old family-run hotel with a B&B feeling. Good breakfast with sweet and salty options. Clean. I think it is more suited for old couples, even the shower had a double step-better fit for showering sitting down-I think. The owner was very attentive and was quick to answer...

Due to a mess-up with other accommodation, we booked a room here the day before arriving. Good choice! The hotel, in an restrained Art Deco style, has the sort of faded old world charm that is so much more memorable and enjoyable than a modern, all mod cons, chain hotel. The owner too was absolutely charming and could not have...
