This hotel is located above a group of shops. Extremely modern and "barren" within a room. The room is so modern in style that it is uncomfortable to stay in. There is no storage shelf for your toiletries in the bathroom, so all toiletries had to be placed on a table in the bedroom. The side tables by the bed are so small, only the light provided fits, no room for a glass or even a book. No curtains at the window. No sockets to charge a phone/laptop. The description provided online of the room that we booked was totally different to what we received., even though we advised the young receptionist of what standard of room we had booked and paid for. All we kept hearing was, "we have only been opened two months", We even had to request a safe, which I have to say was installed promptly. however, if they cannot provide a comfy stay after two months, there is no hope! There is no bar or Lounge area. The only positive things I can say is that a good selection at breakfast, comfy bed and central position. However, avoid staying an a Sat night as the home going night clubbers make a noise which echos in the street, but this is not the fault of the hotel. In all of my travels, I can honestly say that this is one of the most uncomfortable hotel stays. The name Grand Hotel is certainly misleading, as Grand it is not. We stayed for two nights and we could not wait to leave.

It didn't even dawn on me that I could have a room with steps, meaning risking my life to get to the toilet in the night. It looked like a hospital room, all white, no decoration, no explanations (how to use the TV, I learned there was a minibar just before leaving, breakfast schedule). The air-conditioning broke down on the hottest day. Breakfast is just okay. They didn't clean my room one days, so no soap, toilet paper or clean towels. The bed and linens are new and comfortable. The location is right in the center of town, meaning noise galore. It will be a fine hotel when they get their act together. The roof is panoramic but no chairs.

... not acceptable that: - there is no cold water (only scalding hot) - the water was brown - there are no curtains in the room - the walls are bare and white (ever thought of hanging a picture?) - the room was not properly cleaned (an old band-aid on the windowsill) - there were no tissues in the bathroom - there was a hole in the wall in the bathroom - there are no electric outlets to charge a phone And a few other problems. Other than that, the location is perfect and the staff is nice. But the place feels unfinished, or abandoned.
