I stayed here for 2 nights out of out of 4 in Milan. My first impression to the hotel was we were arrived early but they allowed us to checked in immediately and invite us for the drink at the bar next to reception. The accommodation was good with full amenities that we expected. The breakfast was excellent with lot of selection and the juice and croissant was the best I ever had. The staff at the breakfast and reception always nice and warm welcome. They always offer assistant regarding transportation, city tour, and arranging the taxi for us. Will be back and stay here again!
Had to book a last-minute hotel and this was what we went with. Had a triple room for just two of us which was fine. Comfortable bed and a nice quiet area. Good local restaurants and pleasant service.
We stayed here for one night in Milan which was unplanned. The accomodation was affordable and in a good location. There is a train station only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and it is three stops from the Duomo station in the centre of Milan. The room was a decent size and clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the toiletries were of an average standard. The staff were pleasant and helpful. If we were to return to Milan we wouldn’t have any issues staying here again.
The Salone Dell Mobile is an annual event in Milan - the biggest international Design Fair in the world, and thus, attracting a massive international audience of press, designers, architects, interior designers, artists etc. The main event is outside of central Milan - at Rho Fiera, the huge exhibition centre about 40 minutes by metro from Milan central. There is also a parallel programme called the Fuorisalone encompassing numerous events in the central part of the city and the immediate surrounds. During this time Milan hotels become hard to book. As it is peek season, the prices become inflated - sometimes ridiculously so. Some hotels that would normally charge AUD$300/night, charge $1,165.00/night. So if you are not interested in the Design Fair it is a good idea not to travel to Milan at this time. I had the unfortunate experience of booking an apartment that was later cancelled and had to find another place quite late in the timeframe. I discovered Hotel Five during difficult process of researching somewhere with available rooms because it was within the central ring of Milan, where I wanted to stay for convenience for the Fuorisalone. Hotel Five is rated three stars and I was pleasantly surprised at the value for money. for the following reasons: Wonderful staff who were always willing to help guests; 24 hr reception; Great breakfast; The rooms are modern aesthetic, clean and comfortable; Bar fridge and tea/coffee making facilities in the room; Nice light rooms with adequate window; Close to Metro (50mts walk) with only x 3 stops to the Duomo in central Milan; Lots of quality restaurants close by, that the staff can recommend; I highly recommend this three star hotel, as its great value for money and excellent staff and service.…
We booked Hotel Five for one night before we left Milan, because it was just round the corner from the QC Termemilano spa. It was the cheapest one we could find nearby that wasn't a hostel or really run down hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived as it was nicer than we expected. The staff spoke English and were friendly, gave advice on alternative routes back to Malpensa Airport (bus/train rather than an expensive taxi). The room was huge (we booked a twin room - it had a single and a double bed) and was very clean and comfortable. We were a bit worried about noise as there are two Irish pubs outside, but our room faced the back and was really quiet. Large tv but couldn't find many English channels and tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was fine: pastries, meets, cheeses, cereal and eggs. We wanted a comfy nights sleep for our last night in Italy, close to the spa and that's exactly what we got!…
Overall Hotel Five offers a very relaxing stay. The hotel is not big, but once you're in your room, you don't need it to be. The rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast offered is also quite nice, bacon, eggs, baked goods, cheese, cured meat, etc. The staff is also quite helpful, offering advice on how to get around. Though only issue I had was the location. Perhaps it was due to my GF and my lack of bearings in Milan, but every time we tried to return to the hotel, we would get lost. Google Maps always sent us off in the wrong direction, and it would end up taking us 40 minutes to return from the Duomo instead of the 15-20 minutes it should have. The streets are very windy there, so due to all of this, the location for me was not ideal. There also is not a ton happening around the hotel - it's not in the middle of a lively area, though there are a couple Irish pubs right there (but that's not quite what I came to Milan, Italy for). But besides the location, I was very happy with the hotel, and as long as you know where in the city it's located, I would definitely recommend it.…
Hotel Five is a modern and well managed three star hotel just across Porta Romana,a nice and typical Milanese neighborhood. Location is great: just some meters from metro (Porta Romana station) and around 15-20 minutes by foot to Milan's downtown and major sights (Duomo, Galleria etc). The hotel in itself is somewhat small (just two floors) but installations and bedding are modern and comfortable, even with bigger bathrooms than other posher Milanese hotels. A dedicated and polite staff are always available (special thanks to Chiara, really helpful) to help you and breakfast is above expectations for a three star hotel. Just a recommendation: a partnership with a laundry would be great to international travelers which need to wash or iron their clothes after a long trip.
PROS: Front desk was very friendly. Property is very small, but rooms are comfortable in size. Location is good, nice pubs, bakeries and restaurants nearby. Breakfast, was great! Nice variety excellent coffee! CONS The air conditioner is weak. On our second night our air-con stopped working. The night agent at the front desk tried his best to help us, but we had to change rooms next day. So that second night was miserable and hot. I would have given it a better rating if it weren't for the inconveniences of sleeping in a hot room. After all thats the minimum a hotel needs to offer, a good night sleep.
Very friendly front desk staff. The room was clean, tidy and the bed was very comfy and the shower heavenly. It was easy to walk into the centre or to the canal area where there are great restaurants. My favourite thing about my stay was Fondazione Prada which is 15 mins walk from the hotel. Very much enjoyed our stay here.
My hosts booked this hotel for me and I was very happy with it. The room was very clean, the breakfast generous with nice options. The staff was superbly friendly and helpful. The location is good as it's very close to a metro stop (that will lead you straight to the Duomo) and some tram stops as well. The one slight negative is that they barely had any non-Italian channels on the TV. Most people are probably not staying in a hotel in Milan to watch TV though so this is not a huge constrained (I just managed to get sick during my travels so more variety would have been nice).
