We recently spent 2 nights at the Hotel Star in the old city centre of Milan, Italy. I would recommend this hotel. It is very well located within walking distance of the Duomo, shopping district, and opera house. We also walked to the Last Supper, which is further away, but very doable. This is not the most fancy hotel I...

The hotel is situated 5 minute walk from Piazza del Duomo and the Scala, most city sights are accessible on foot. Interior design reminded us the early 90s (kind of funny), still the room was clean, comfortable, and also had a massage tub (in the deluxe room). Its drawback was however, in our experience, the indifferent and neglectful staff. We...

I haven't been to Milano for years (many!), therefore I haven't been to the Hotel Star for years, and I must admit that I was not sure whether I would appreciate it as much as in the past. Yes, I did. You cannot beat the excellent location and Vittoria is still at the reception as helpful and as effcient as...

We needed a smoke free hotel, close to Cadorna to get an early Malpensa Express train. This hotel was perfect for that. The 2 women who were at the front desk were very pleasant and helped us graciously with all of our questions. Location is great - near the Duomo, Scala and Brera neighborhood. For those sensitive to noise, we...

I was travelling to Milan alone and wanted to be right near everything so I wouldn't have to spend loads of time wandering back to my hotel every evening. The bed was comfortable, the staff unbelievably friendly and helpful, not just to me but to the other guests I overheard dealing with them. The breakfast was good, and as I...

Excellent location, next to the center of the city, close to everywhere, (subway, station, attractions, ...). Clean. Good breakfast for this type of hotel. Polite personnel. Small room, which is not renovated like the advertisement, no nice animal paintings. Smelling at the bathroom, which disappeared the second day. Slow internet.

The location doesn't get any better than this! It is equally within walking distance of the Duomo, La Scala, Sforefzi (spelling) castle, and the beautiful old shopping arcade near the Duomo. We are older, and not able to walk long distances, but even we could manage these walks! We only needed the Metro 1 day, and that was easy enough...

Although Milan hotels are the most expensive hotels in Europe, Hotel Stars price is reasonable because of the location. La Scala theatre, Castle Sforza, Duomo, etc. only five minutes walk. A little bit old furniture. Breakfast was delicious, especially coffee but not much kind. There is no slippers in the room.

My husband and I were in Milan for a business conference that he was attending. The location of this hotel was perfect. A short 5-minute walk to the Duomo, shopping and sightseeing. While my husband was attending the conference, I felt very safe to walk around in the day and the evening. There were many restaurants, bakeries, etc. nearby to...

Hotel Star is a great little hotel. The rooms are very nice and clean. The beds are very comfy. The staff is exetremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is very good. There is some noise from ventilation but I think this is everywhere in Milan, it did not prevent me from sleeping. Can only recommend it. Will go back...

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
