Although a little tired, the Gray is a gem of a hotel just a stones throw from the Galleria and the Duomo. Le Noir, their restaurant has one of the best veal Milanese and filleto of beef we have ever had. Rooms are tight but functional. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good value if on sale...

Probably the best location in Milan, a very romantic and glam ambience, very comfortable rooms, nice amenities, inluding a selection of classic music. Excellent service, tailored to the needs of the clients, quite good breakfast.

The hotel probably couldn't be any more central (20 meters from il duomo) which is great for walks etc but of course not much in the way of parking. The reception area and rooms are very very well decorated and trendy and the bed is amazing both in design and comfort however, the service is satisfactory. Maybe a few more... More

It's sophisticated, glamorous, modern, and romantic. This Hotel is listed in the Small Luxury Hotels of the World list and the Mr. and Mrs. Smith list. And I could see why! The location can't be beaten; from our window we could see Il Duomo and the Galleria, both at 50 ft. from the Hotel. So, you are in one of... More

We chose to stay at The Gray on our trip to Milan and it proved to be the perfect choice. The location can't be beat. All the sites may be reached by walk: Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and Duomo are just out of the hotel, Monte Napoleone shopping area and Brera just 5 minutes walking distance and the metro station just... a boring "design" hotel with exotic colours and paints that is already looking cheap and tired (chipped paint etc). Our suite came with a pointless mini gym which is bizarre as a real communal gym is more practical. the lobby and bar is soulless (even though we were there in fashion week). Best recommendation is to avoid and stay at... More

We loved the location of this hotel, couldn't be better! Next to Duomo in very centre of the city, and in the middle of the shopping areas. Our room was nice and very clean, as should be. Breakfast food selection wasn't too broad but had all the essential stuff, so good enough. Fresh fruits too! Our room was facing the... More

I always like to start with the positive: unbeatable location in central Milan steps away from the Duomo, la Scala and the high end boutiques. Very friendly, professional and attentive service by the English speaking staff at reception. Beautifully designed rooms; although nothing I haven't seen before in boutique hotels around the world - I would have expected something a... More

We stayed at the Grey because we found it extremely difficult to find a hotel room that would take 4 people in Milan. It seems most hotels want you to take 2 rooms if you are a family of 4. However, we decided on the Grey and were excited to stay as the rooms are quite unique. We enjoyed the... More

A nice hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location, close to the Duomo and the best shops. The only complain is the size of the rooms, some of which are very small.

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A gem of a hotel in the heart of Milan, where stunning contemporary design meets sophistication and comfort. The Gray, with just 21 individually decorated rooms, is an intimate property full of style, an d includes an atmospheric restaurant, a cosy bar and bedrooms, some of which have their own private gym. Smart, witty design elements throughout add to the sense of elegance and comfort. Deep chocolate browns contrast with crisp creams, geometric lines are softened by colored lighting effects, while bright colour accents, such as the suspended fuchsia swing in the lobby, enliven the ambience. An afternoon of sightseeing could not be easier as the Duomo is literally at the end of the street and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele is in front of the hotel. A five-minute walk takes you to the fashion district around Via Monte Napoleone. Return to the hotel for delicious Mediterranean cuisine in the restaurant before heading to the opera. The Gray is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property. ... more   less
