+perfect location; calm area (except you can hear the neighbors snoring...) ; room access out of the check-in hours; communication and information via WhatsApp; bed room and bathroom clean, free toiletries; nice breakfast - no internet access in the room; very little interaction with the hotel staff on the spot

We had three nights here attending a wedding in town. Reception is next to the Olina restaurant and the rooms are in another building. All worked well. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and that was good. If we weren’t being entertained elsewhere we’d probably have eaten there again. The rooms are clean but basic with few frills – only two plastic coat hangers for all the wedding gear! - but everything worked. Good shower, comfortable bed. Small room and bathroom. Nowhere to put anything. No chairs. Don't expect large towels and loads of toiletries. No coffee/tea in room. There is no lift. But what you get is fine. The breakfast is in a café in the main square and that was plentiful and nicely done. Enjoyable to sit watching the place come to life. Beware that you have to park in the multi-storey at the top of the hill and carry your cases down steep hill or multiple steps to the hotel and back up again at the end of the stay. Definitely for the young and fit. And if you don’t know about the Italian ZTL traffic regulations then find out before trying to drive into town!

Apparently this hotel has rooms all over the town, so it's worth asking for details, before you book. We ended up at the top of a building with a crazy amount of stairs to get there plus another flight to get to the second bed - we slept well! Again, no wifi!

As English speakers traveling in Italy, we felt so lucky to meet the desk staff at Hotel Olina. Fluent in English, the staff helped us to obtain rooms for 5 nights and locate the local attractions we wanted. We had two different rooms during our last-minute stay: both looked out over Piazza Motto, so we were able to throw open the long windows and watch the world below in the piazza and out to the island of San Guilo. As people who work through the internet while we travel, we were so pleased to have internet access in an eating room of one of their properties. Moreover, the complimentary breakfast was nearly decadent: cheeses, meats, quiches, tarts, fresh fruit, grilled vegetables, and as much espresso/ latte as one could want! All in all, we were delighted from beginning to end with Hotel Olina and recommend it highly.

Price and quality match, rooms are spread out over different locations. We stayed at Mansarde. Very large family room for four. Clean, good bathroom & shower. Big beds. Location is perfect in the middle of the town. One remark: two broken windows so they couldn't be closed. Breakfast is at another location, in the central square is very very nice. Vergy good service and a variety of food. Just perfect.

The "hotel" seems to have several buildings at different locations, within walking distance from the main office/reception. There is only one person at the desk so each time there is someone to check in the receptionist has to take them round to their room which may be 5 to 10 minutes walk away, so anyone else who is in reception ends up waiting for the receptionist to come back. The hotel also claims that it has got a free parking - The free parking is 10 - 15 minutes away from the the hotel's reception and you cannot drive by the hotel to drop your luggage because it is in a pedestrian zone area. So ended up paying extra for parking in a nearby garage which is around 5 minute walk from the hotel. The room was clean and basic. Breakfast was served in another building away from where our room was located, but it was varied and probably one of the best breakfasts we had in our 2 week holiday in Northern Italy. Hotel location is great and within walking distance to all attractions within the village.

Excellent location and nice area. The staff are very friendly and helpful especially (Selena). They have a car park but don't get with the car to the hotel! it's in the old area of the towns and cars are not allowed. Contact them and they will let you know where the parking is. (otherwise you will struggle finding parking and paying a lot!). The only negative point was the wifi was very bad and couldn't reach the room.

This is a no-frills, 2-star property with basic but clean accommodation in the centre of Orta San Giulio offering a great base for exploring this wonderful little town. Don't go with too high expectations and you will thoroughly enjoy your stay, just as we did. We stayed in July and didn't miss the air conditioning as the stone walls were sufficient in keeping our spacious room clean, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was well stocked. Special mention must also go to the hotels excellent (quirky) restaurant and the great breakfast served at their sister hotel in the main square.

There were some down points of this hotel, but all in all in was alright. The owners have numerous structures in town, so the building we stayed in was not the same place as breakfast, and the one building with wifi for us to use was also a different location than ours. The included breakfast, to be eaten at the other building, closed at 10am, which is a little early for vacation travelers who sleep in (and have to walk some to get to a different location to eat, as well) so we missed the meal, which I can't then comment on. For some reason there was only one bath towel in the bathroom for us, and by the time we noticed it was late in the evening and there was no one to ask for another, since the receptions for their various hotels are not onsite. Also the ceiling and walls were very thin, the folks walking around above us was enough to keep us up. That being said, it was very clean and well maintained, and finding the room availability last minute to reserve I couldn't be choosy! But to stay in beautiful Lake Orta on a budget, it was decent.

We spent a long weekend at the Olina. The stay was pleasant and we took advantage of the central location of the hotel. Everything is within reach. The ferry pier is around the corner, the restaurants just down the street. Breakfast is served in a bar, away from the hotel, and is very good. The personnel is efficient and courteous. We did not like the room. There is just the bare minimum, like in a monk cell. It is sadly furnished, with sub-ikea forniture, not even a mirror or a place where to place the soap in the shower (except the floor). Cleanliness is OK. We would not recommend the hotel as first choice in Orta. Look elsewhere.
