Beautiful hotel with nice spatious rooms, very helpful and friendly staff. Loved our stay would very much like to come back. Very nice breakfast with tiny muffins, fresh fruit, choice of pastries and lots of good stuff.

Would you like to stay in a piccolo hotel (only 5 rooms) that is off the main tourist track in a real Venetian neighborhood, but still close to the Vaporetto system so that you can easily get anywhere you want to go? Do you want to spend hours walking around an area where real people live, work, and shop yet...

I really recommend this hotel. Small hotel but with great big rooms, nice bath a perfect small garden connecting to the room and a perfect location. Your close to everything yet away from the busy tourist traffic. Lost of restaurant and local shops within 3-4 minutes walking distance. Took us less than 30 minute to walk to all the main...

I can only recommend the Avogaria if you are looking for a tasteful charming place in the heart of venice. The hosts made our stay very pleasant. Although the reception is not occupied all day round we informed them on our late night arrival and the greeted us very friendly. We received good instructions how to get to the hotel...

Many people spend a fortune for crowded, loud, and over priced hotels when visiting Venice. This locanda is located in the quiet Dorsoduro district, just 20 minutes walking distance to the main attractions of San Marco square or the Rialto bridge. We went at the absolute height of the tourist season, and you wouldn't know it when we were around...

We had a two night stay here in mid-June. We had a room with a courtyard garden, which was very restful and had one wall covered in jasmine which smelled beautiful. The room was simple but nicely furnished. The bathroom was very stylish, with a double shower but no bath. The bed was comfortable but was actually two singles pushed...

Lovely hotel. Quiet location. Filipo and Francesco were the perfect hosts. They were very friendly and helpful. Filipo organised a water taxi for us to take us on a tour of the grand canal. Not forgetting Grace who was absolutely lovely. Came in especially in the afternoon to clean our room ready for the next guests, because we had asked...

A 'boutique' locanda with tastefully decorated rooms and the coziness and warmth of the traditional 'bed & breakfast'. With only 5 rooms, it is an ideal accommodation venue to plan for a small group of close friends or family in need of a holiday reunion. Our daughter loved the freedom to leave the room to go visit her Uncles and...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
