Extremely well situated, just a few minutes to Piazza San Marcos and about 10 minutes to Rialto Bridge! The employees are friendly and very helpful, recommending places to eat when we asked .... We will definitely stay here again!

Room was nice enough, location was nice (5 mins from St Marks Square on a quiet canal with nice restaurants). The service from the staff at reception was exemplary. The breakfast was basic, but OK. In general I thought the hotel was very expensive for what it was...but maybe that's Venice!

We could not be more pleased with our stay at the Ai Due Principe! It's located on a canal within a 5-minute walk of the San Zaccaria vaporetto station and near St. Mark's square. The building is a centuries old palace of an aristocrat, and everything in the hotel, including our room, looked like it was brand new! Our room... More

We luckily booked the junior suite room for our 2 night stay. The room was massive and just what we needed after getting off a cruise ship for 11 nights. Our room also had a small balcony overlooking the canal. The breakfast room is a bit tiny but most of the restaurants in Venice having seating very close to either... More

I am very disgruntled with this hotel from start to finish. I booked two rooms - many many months ago. When we arrived, they explained that someone was sick and could not move out of their room and would we do them a 'favour' by taking a room nearby - OUTSIDE of the hotel. We complained about this but felt... More

The location of the hotel is a short - <10 min walk to the Doge and Bell Tower. It's also very close to the S Zaccaria water taxi station, which goes to the Marco Polo airport. One does not need to cross a single bridge to get to the airport from the hotel, making it a plus if you have... More

We just finished our stay in Venice and we absolutely would come back here. Staff is very friendly, even if we have a difficult time communicating. My Italian is much worse that their English but at times it was almost comical. The room (#103) was very large and spacious. The bathroom, no bath, shower only, was huge!! The soaps and... More

Great location and moderate price. Updated hotel surrounded by beautiful historic Venice. Nice rooms, comfortable beds, friendly staff, and good breakfast. Close enough to all the attractions, but felt far enough away to not be overwhelmed with the St Mark's crowd. Close to water taxi drop off and near great restaurants.

Dear Guest, Greetings from Venice. Thank you so much for your visit and for writing this lovely review of Ai due Principi. Extremely rude and unprofessional staff. The hotel roughly deserves 2 stars and needs an update. The food in the breakfast is the probably the cheapest that you can find in any supermarket and even the coffee was bad which is unacceptable considering that Italy is the country of the good coffee. I'd say the location is the only asset but... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
