Don't let yourself be deceived by the exterior of the hotel - located in a very narrow and bit darker street, it is however a lovely hotel managed by extremely friendly couple. I was lucky to get an upgrade on my room, so I got a fabulous room, large, well equipped and decorated. The amenities on the bathroom were excellent,...

This is a great place to stay. Feels very much Venetian. Buffet breakfast great value and very well presented. Great location close to Rialto bridge and St Mark's square. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is centrally located to all the attractions and near several restaurants, in the event you are looking for night life. We walked everywhere! The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Rialto vaporetto station. Despite its central location, the room was quiet at night and the air conditioning worked well. The room was clean and the people...

By visiting the YouTube site we found the hotel without too much trouble. Excellent location for the prominent sights along with a good number of bars and restaurants. Our room, 207, was very comfortable and quite thus we slept well. The only issue being no view from the room. The hotel owner was extremely helpful, friendly and informative.

Former home of Casanova himself! Rooms are nice and the service excellent. My second time staying at this hotel, and would do it again. Got upgraded to superior room, and this was amazing. Breakfast expensive but good enough. Good restaurants nearby. Only downside is that there is a lot of stairs and no elevator. Not the best hotel in the...

We stayed here for 3 nights during our visit to Venice. This is a very clean and well appointed hotel. Very convenient to all the sights. The route to the hotel from the Rialto vaporetto stop recommended by the hotel is far too complicated and we quickly lost our way. A much easier route is to turn left at the...

From the moment we entered this quaint little treasure we were greeted by Umberto and felt like we were home. The previous reviews were totally accurate. It is very clean, the staff is very helpful, and Umberto (who I believe never sleeps) was there everyday with a smile and an answer to any question we had. Warning to arrivers this...

Very centrally located, large room and bathroom. Soap, shampoo etc. provided for. Staff friendly enough. Mind you, there is no elevator and it is Venice, so it is obviously an old building. Our room was overlooking an inner court so there wasn't much light coming in from the windows. However, it was good value for money and really spacious, a...

They say they have 24 room service and we had to get on a early train, so we asked for food and the night clerk laughed and called us stupid. He ruined a good experience in Venice because he wouldn't follow through on what they promised they would do the night before. Not a trustworthy hotel.

I am very sorry for what happened with the night portier; I proceeded to ask him an explanation of what happened. Sorry again that the behavior of a rude people of my staff has ruined your stay at Ca' Bragadin; Worse he has insulted you, I will not tolerate his behavior; I hope you accept my apology to, even if...

Had a great stay, great room and amazing service, easy to locate and in a great position to get around. We will definetly be back, 2 nights stay was definitely not enough to get to know the whole place, next time we'll make it 2 weeks.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
