We recently spent two nights at this lovely hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Our room overlooked the courtyard and garden and was quiet with birdsong in the morning - lovely. It was a good size, very clean...More
Really enjoyed our stay at Al Sole that was recommended by our CAA travel agent. The staff was welcoming, helpful, and offered unsolicited free wi-fi, which we really appreciated. Pleasantly surprised by the generous breakfast and great Americano coffee. We arrived at 9:00 am after...More
Such a lovely hotel, the staff were always friendly and always more than happy to help. They would arrange free boat trips to Burano and help with any questions and recommendations they could.
The rooms were nice and clean and had beautiful tall ceilings.
Just spent 3 nights at the hotel, very impressed with every aspect of our stay. Had a room overlooking the courtyard, which was well appointed, very clean and a good size. It was very quiet, the only sounds on waking were the birds and the...More

Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture
universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
