It pains me to give this hotel 2 out of 5, but I feel I have to warn others about the wi-fi. In this day and age I believe that decent wi-fi in a hotel (especially an expensive one) is no less essential than hot running water. If you are reading this then you are a trip-adviser traveller and will,...

This hotel was excellent, the staff were very friendly and approachable. We were on our honeymoon and asked for something complimentary we got the choice of either champagne or cocktails. The room is air conditioned, there is a fridge, a hairdryer, and slippers. Also the hotel serves a complimentary breakfast that is very tasty. The hotel is located close to...

Great hotel in the heart of Venice. The staff were all excellent and very helpful. The room was beatiful but there were a few stains on the carpet (Not a big deal as they give slippers and room is kept very clean). The location was excellent, a short walk to the main square and excellent restaurants. The best part of...

We are currently on night 2 of 3 at AD Place and are having a great time, which prompted this first review on TA. Our family of four (with two small children) is comfortably situated in the November suite, which has a sofa bed in a separate sitting room for the kids. What really makes AD Place so special is...

Quirky design. Very friendly helpful staff. Lovely chocolate on first night, and a bowl of it on the reception desk! We had three rooms, and two of us were upgraded to suites. We had an an enormous suite (with an exercise bike!). The bathroom in our suite was luxurious, but oddly had no shower - only a bath with a...

Not your run of the mill place ~ so much fun after standard hotels! Each room had its own unique flavor that it was fun to explore. Unfortunately our room was on the top floor (we are 50ish) and it has no elevators and steep steps. However, they cheerfully took our suitcases (and we had 4 heavy ones!!) and said...

Ok, this place is a little treasure. Beautiful inside and out. It's small but so well designed. We had the first room on the main floor. "November"was the room name. It was lovely. We had a very large room with sitting area and large bathroom and very large bed room. It was very nice to open windows and shutters leading...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
